2009 Matrix on Motorweek - Vibe also mentioned

Post by dutchvibe »

Motorweek on PBS did a roadtest on the 2009 Matrix today. They mention the Vibe. See link and text below."Pricing for the Matrix is broad and affordable. The base model starts at $16,850, while the 'S' trim begins at $18,920. The well-equipped XRS starts at $21,320. As before, all key features are shared with the Pontiac Vibe, which adds standard OnStar, stability control, and a longer power train warranty. "http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2730b.shtml

gah--the Matrix looks more Vibe-y than the Vibe does now!Still has the rear plate in the center of rear hatch, front end is...edgier than the Vibes now. Along the bottom it almost has some pseudo-monotone-cladding look going on. And the wraparound rear window is pretty nice.

Saw the Matrix Motorweek segment. The new XRS/GT has the 2.4 liter 4 banger. No significant difference in horse powere over the old engine; however, I did notice that the torque is up quite a bit to 162 ft/lbs. Also gas mileage is 21/28. Motorweek averaged ~27.3 during their testing. That added torque is probably pretty nice.

I like the Vibe better. I still hate that big oval thing in the dash. They should have stuck with all round gages.

I've read somewhere that the Vibe 2009 was 10 cm lower than the previous models.
