Procrastination finally caught up to me!

Post by damronjr »

Yep, tonight I decided to take the Vibe out to the races, everything was going fine, then it happened. The Tech Lane guy told me to toll the drivers side window up to make sure it worked, no problem right, besides the cracking sound every time I have done just that for years now, neer a problem until tonight. He looked away when he saw it rolling up, just then it went sideways and I quickly rolled it back down thinking I could screw with it in the pit and see if I could at least get it up all the way so I could run. Nope, now it won't go all the way up or down, and it is off so much that it is preventing my door from opening! To think I could have gotten this fixed under warranty way back when, but b/c I was too lazy to take it in and to take off the sound deadener to try to get to it, now it's broke! Guess I have yet some more work to do.

And a day later it's fixed! Lucky for me somebody broke my window out not long ago and I watched the guy as he fixed it so I knew exactly what to look for and what to do. It was a ***** getting the door panel off and working on it with not being able to open the door very far, but I managed, got all the sound deadener out of the way, and saw the screw sitting right there in the bottom of the door! Yep, the window screw on the front side of the window fell off causing the window to come off the track, that was it. Simple fix, I guess the cracking sound was it letting me know it was loose all this time. SO, if you think you are having problems with it, either rip it apart like I did and check the 2 screws holding the window on the rail, or take it to the dealer if it is under warranty and have them check it. Lucky for me I didn't end up like some others with a shattered window! So now my car is sitting out back with no passenger seat, the dash was apart, wires everywhere, sub and amp are out, rear plastic cover is out, rear black plastic bin is out, blew the fuse (Again!) on my airbags by accident this time. Good times!

I'm also glad I was able to save it before it was toally screwed and had to be replaced. It was very close, let me tell, you, that I was even able to get the door panel off with the way the window was blocking the door from being able to be open! Got some new fuses as well for my airbag system, so now I can actually drive it again once I get it replaced. Trying to see about getting my subwoofer fixed as the foam around the woofer came apart and now it sounds like garbage. Let's see, my passenger seat is still outside on the ground as well as the rear floor panel, black tray, woofer box and amp, and other crap. I still want to replace the airbag system wiring before I drive it again, but I doubt that will happen. Also still trying to figure out why my 300/4 amp for my door speakers isn't always getting a remote signal and shuts off randomly for no reason and then comes back on whenever it feels like it. Then I still also need to figure out my idle/dying issues! lol Lots of work to be done.

I can't get my hands in, but I might be able to provide answers and or outlets to gear (like that subs that you can use to hold down a tarp or something now)

I was wondering, I have a 10JLW7 and the foam ring around the woofer is falling apart at the woofer, is that fixable or am I out a very expensive speaker? If it is fixable, where might I be able to get that done? I am not the original purchaser and it has been owned for a while so warranty is out. The am thing I think is just a lousy connection that only shows up every now and again, but the only way to find out is to wait for it to go off again it seems.
