2009 V8 Vibe?

Post by Theodoreable »

An out-of-state friend reports that he received a letter from Pontiac announcing production of a 2009 V8 Vibe for later this year. He insists that model will supposedly cost $29,000. Could this true, or did my friend misread the announcement?

V8? That's a pretty big motor for such a small car. I haven't heard anything about this yet, but I would highly doubt it.

Your friend is wrong. There isn't a V6 for the Vibe, there certainly isn't a V8. There is going to be a Pontiac G8 available with two different V8s.

yeah i'm sure he misread it.if pontiac knows what's good for them, they'll release a GXP version. otherwise, i'm gonna write one hell of a nasty letter

yeah idk, the v8 would weigh that front end down to much I'd think a gxp would just be a stock SC on the 2.4l gt model.

It wouldn't make sense to put a V8 in it, since they don't even offer a V6, and since the V6 would be lighter, it makes sense that if they did any bigger engine than a 4, it would only be a 6...

Turbo seems to be the direction GM is headed, given the HHR and upcoming Cobalt SS, also the Solstice GXP. But I suppose a lot of the decision of what to do to soup it up would come down to Toyota with the Vibe. Personally, I think I'd rather see a turbo as well. Sure you have lag but you don't have that parasite belted to your engine either. (Sorry SC boys and girls).

V8???ROFLMAO!That's the biggest load I've ever heard. Not a chance. You won't likely see a 6 in a vibe, let alone a 4.I read an article that lutz said to expect a lot more FWD and 4-cylinders because of stricter CAFE.
