I checked through the forums and didn't see a thread on it so I hope someone can help or direct me to where I can learn . I am looking to swap out my base stock rear drums for some GT or XRS Disc brakes. I am hoping to find a junk yard GT or XRS with usable rear disc brakes. But I am just wondering if anyone has heard of it or has done it. I am hoping that it is just a swap with little mods. But if someone with more VIBE knowledge would let me know that would be awesome. Thanks

There was some discussion on MatrixOwners here:http://matrixowners.com/index.php?showtopic=55378and you could try contacting some of the participants for suggestions.BTW, given the high front/back weight ratio of the Vibe and the added weight transfer under braking, I wouldn't expect any significant performance gain in most circumstances. Drums have plenty of stopping power but are weak on heat dissipation under repeated hard stops and therefore tend to fade. Not an issue normally but could be one when autocrossing or similar. And, of course, there are aesthetic considerations.
its possible, but you need like new brake lines etc. so its just a ton of money and if you compare brake stop distances from xrs/gt to the base models they dont make much of a difference. TRD has a big brake kit, but if you REALLY want rear disc, go to a junk yard and pull ALL the brake stuff for the rear brakes otherwise its going to cost a ton.
thanks guys... i was looking mostly for looks cuz my rims looks icky with the drums behind them. thanks
