So I am noticing that my shifter clicks quite often when going through to gates. Is this normal? The last manual car I had didn't do this, and I don't care provided there is nothing wrong with it.I have considered getting a short shifter only because that is what I am used to. The throws ont he vibe seem to be OK, my Focus I used to have was seriously like rwoing gears until I got the short throw. Anyways, tell me if something sounds fishy or if its just the normal Vibe thing, and I am being a wierdo..
The clicking is normal. You might want to consider replacing the underhood shifter bushings with brass ones instead of the stock rubber ones. Some folks replace the ones under the shifter too. I did the underhood ones and have a much more positive shifter feel as a result. Here's a link to the short shifter that most people use:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1VYou can get them directly from the TWM website too.
Quote, originally posted by WaveAction »mine "clicks" when i shift aswell and its brand new. but Raven has the idea.heres a site for the brass bushingshttp://www.speed-source.net/Any how to's on this one?
im not firmiliar with them since i dont have them, but their is a member or a few that have done this so im sure someone can post one up if its not to much trouble for them.
I've got the TWM ones and they are great. As for the clicking during shifting, that's normal. Here's a link for the shifter bushings. Which, btw won't get rid of the clicking, but will make shifting much better. http://www.twmperformance.com/...x.htm
I used these same ones on my 06, and had noticibly better feel.Never experienced clicking though before or after. Install of underhood bushings was straightforward. Their brief instructions were plenty.I'd pull the shifter cover off the console and have a looksee while shifting in the driveway to see what maybe causing it.If lots of folks feel the noise is normal - well it may be for whatever rev of shifter. 06 (or just mine) was 'normal' ... quiet.
