This is just an idea. I dont know if anyone has ever seen ledmod.com's color changing gauges faces for a celica gts when it hits lift, but what if I could figure out a way to incorporate that wiring into the headlights.Say you buy two stock headlights and figure out a mount 4-8 super bright led's into them, and using the same wiring setup they use for the gauges. So when your driving and you hit lift your normal headlights turn off, and the led's shine red. Let me know what you guys think.
a microcontroller would be needed for this. I can think of maybe two options, one being more feasible. The rpm's would need to go into the microcontroller and when you hit a certain rpm range 6.5k+ the microcontroller would turn on the leds. Or if the ecu knows when the car is in lift, that wire would need to go to the MC to decode and turn the leds on when told... sounds cool but would be a project
That would be interesting, but the last thing you need is to lose your headlights at night when you accelerate hard. Neat idea, but I say leave it for the gauges.

It could look cool, but it might be good to use a color other than red.

If you can turn it on/off pretty easily, so that when you're on public streets you don't use it... I think the red idea is pretty cool... biggest thing you would need to make sure is that you do not have any red lens (even just the bulbs) facing fwd, even if they are not on it's still illegal.I think it would be cool when at the dragstip, or autocross.
