Fuel additives

Post by darcmater »

today I was at the local auto store and was lookign at the fuel additives. Allways been told its good every so often to put some in to help keep the car running good and such. My question is as I look down the isle and see a sea of products rangeign from ones that just state gas treatment, to total fuel system cleaner to carb and fuel injector cleaners. What is the differance between these and what is the better type/brand to go with to help keep the vibe runnign smooth?

Search will yeild lots of results, but i think a lot of us would recomend either nothing or to run a bottle of Techron Concentrate at every oil change.I use the techron after i do an oil change. I have done this for years and things have always run great for me.

Although, most will say that fuel carries a "good enough" detergent package already, It's not a bad thing to run a bottle through once in a while..

Techron is the only one that truly works. I've had partially blocked injectors and it cleaned them out. My 20+ year old snowblower was running like crap and it even cleaned out the carb and made it run like new. It's magic elixor..

I prefer BG 44K. It's expensive, but it works.http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html

+1 on BG additive. I use it in my car and will continue to do so.

Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner hands down! Easy to find...GM recommends it and a GM World Class Technician friend of mine does too.
