2009 Canadian Vibe $15,995

Post by Scott99 »

The 2009 Vibe is now available (February 27) in Ontario Canada starting at $15,995 in loonies. Its $15,995 for the base model plus $1,160 for freight. Air conditioning is no longer standard and has to be added as part of a package thats $3,000. Compared to the 2008 model, they dropped a/c, fog lamps, air filter, lift glass, roof rails, and added some safety features.Today I can get a 2008 cheaper than a 2009 with a/c. So much for the hype about a lower price.

What "air filter" was eliminated? The inside one?I can believe that a 2008 with A/C after incentives is less than a 2009 with A/C, but probably not by much. However, many will consider the no extra cost safety options on the 2009 to be of much value [extra airbags, 4 wheel disc antilock brakes, stabil-trak, and ?traction control?]If you are not in a hurry, I'd bet that incentives will be on the 2009s as well before not very long.

The inside cabin "air filter" is not standard on the 2009 and is part of a $3,000 option. Its not a feature I find of any real value.Right now a 2008 Canadian Vibe is $1,845 cheaper than a 2009 with a/c. Thats significant enough to consider the added value of some safety features. Personally I find those safety features of negative value as it would be more expensive to maintain. I was hoping a 2009 would be cheaper as was advertised.

When I got my 2003 Vibe in 2002, the lease rate was 6.9% which I thought was high then. I'm paying 3.9 on my Rogue which is also a brand new vehicle for this year.

The autoshow was in town and GM was offering a 1% drop in their interest rate if you signed up at their booth. Even with the 1% drop, my monthly car payments would increase by $60 for the 09.

Yeah if I had waited 1 week to buy mine I would have been able to "qualify" for that 1% reduction (wich would have been around 200-300$) but insted I signed before Feb29 and was able to use my 1200$ Wish&Win rebate
