2005 - Moon & Tunes Single CD...what's involved in adding XM?

Post by cseel »

Does anyone know what would be involved with making my M&T single CD player radio into an XM receiving radio? Did they make a whole different radio for the XM equipped, or is it "XM ready" and something just gets plugged in or activated? I bought this car used and am pretty happy with the factory radio but would love to try out XM (as I've given up my MP3 player with my other car!). I don't really want to make a big investment because I'm not even sure how much I'd like it. If it's an easy upgrade of some sort, though, I'd give it a whirl. Thanks!

There is a whole external module that is the XM receiver with it's own additional antenna that is in XM-equipped cars. I doubt it's sold on an individual basis; even if it is it would be hideously expensive.Your best option for XM through the stock head unit is to buy a portable XM radio and connect to the stock head unit with an AUX adapter. This would also work for an MP3 player.(See the "so you want to hard wire an AUX" sticky for in this forum for AUX adapter information)
