Choices, Choices

Post by darcmater »

So Im looking for soem rims/tires now so when this chunk of rock unfreezes in a few months I can go directly to the shop and get some put on. Only problem is I am very picky, generaly have expensive tastes and I am cheap. This combo generally makes pickign rims/tires kinda hard : )I like how the stock rim/tire combo at the moment fills in my wheel well, so figure ill go with a combo that keeps it close to the same overall diameter. Plus I want to keep the same diameter so that the speedo doesn't get all whacky. With the way michigan roads are and such figure its best to go with 17's over 18's plus they will be cheaper too. From looking at other profiles and such seems the standard tire for 17 is 225/45 plus it looks nice on the rim and keeps diameter close to the same from looking at the calculator someone posted.Looking for any suggestions/opinions on a nice set of rims/tires out there. I looked thru places like discounttire and belletire, which are my local shops anf picked out some rims I like, uploaded them on my photobucket account if anyoen wants to see http://smg.photobucket.com/alb.../Rims/I like how the black ones look, but given what I have seen/heard i think the silver/polished ones may be more my style. I really like the stylings of Enkei RS-5 and TSW Sakata5 look

Dude,if you're so picky, why are you asking for advice.Rims are a personal choice. Check out tirerack.com,they have a virtual vibe there and you can test out rims.

I personaly like the Enkei RPF1, but, that might be a Subaru thing...lol... I DO KNOW that a LOT of race cars use the RPF1, I could flip open a Super Street or like mag and look at any of the "race" articles and see plennty of cars running them as track wheels... Very strong, decently light (16lbs for a 17") and GREAT price.. IIRC, I can get a set in 17" to fit my Subie for ~1200$ WITH tires... I also really like the RPM2 by Enkei, which isn't as light at the RPF1, but it does look more like the wheels i'm trying to emulate, whixh is the ones that came stock on the Subaru Impreza 22b...

I just remembered somethign Iw as going to ask, does the plastic covers I have on mine effectivley give the tire the illusion of 17inch rims? Man i wish mine had come with soem real rims (even the stock ones) then the cheap black steel ones with the pontiac covers
