Superbowl Ads

Post by Whelan »

I won't name them all but here are my thoughts on some of them. All the Bud Lights where the guy breaths fire and the other can fly. Also the one with the Europeans who couldnt say Bud Light. The guy at the end who gets between two hotties and says "We make sandwich, I am meat." LOLI also enjoyed the Etrade with the baby, especially the second one with the clown in the background hahaha!Doritos with the huge mouse attack is pretty funny. But what was the worst. Def. the Careerbuilder.com and Salesgenie ads. They were so pointless and not funny at all. The worst by far was the Careerbuilder where the girls heart pops out of her chest and walks to her boss telling him it quits. I get the point, your heart is not in the job or whatever. But that was just kinda sick and freaky. Not good for TV.Oh and Tom Petty rocked!!!!

The 'Rocky' Budweiser Clydesdale ad was pretty good. MSN.com lets you rate them in a bracket format like the NCAA basketball tournaments, picking a winner from each pair of ads.

The Game was Good! NFC ROCKS!!!The Half Time Show was Good! Tom Petty Rocks!!ALL the Commercials were Lame and totally forgetable this year IMO! The point of the SuperBowl Commercial is to be something that is remembered, funny, Never been seen before, and/or enjoyable. I got none of that this year. sure some made me chuckle a bit, but there are commercials everyday that can do that.

My favorite Super Bowl commercial of all time was a Nissan ad circa 1996 when they debuted the all new Altima. It had featured the theme to Top Gun (Danger Zone) and a squadron of pigeons attempting to soil the car. It was totally hilarious and ended with the squad leader nailing the garage door in an effort to get the car. There haven't been any truly great commercials since 2002/2003 time frame. I think the whole Janet/Justin thing also put a quelch on the commercials and in general the ad agencies have just been going for blase ads hoping it's different enough to stand out.EDIT: Ok, it was a Maxima and it was 1997http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hma4WubVMjI
