Hi All!I have found the perfect Vibe. I am replacing a 2003 Corolla that was stolen from me. I haven't even test driven a Vibe yet but I figure what I care about will be similar enough and better than the Corolla.Anyway, found a 08 automatic Vibe with ABS, stabilitrak, and side airbags. These are the important features to me. This one also has I believe the preferred package and the monotone package. No sunroof, extra audio etc...The quote I've received so far $20,163.40 after rebates. Wha? Seems high right? I bought the pricing report on Consumer Reports and figured the base price to be $16876 without the hold back or advertising fee.Help! Does $17,500 seem fair? It's so much less than what I was quoted. Thanks for any help! Hope I can join you as an owner soon!
I found a 08 Vibe on Edmunds.com with auto, preferred package, side & head airbags, abs and stalitrak.MSRP $20,905INVOICE $19,647Those prices are before rebates.
Can you wait until the 2009's arrive in late Feb - early March? Maybe the dealer can even order you one. The '09's come with Stabiltrak, traction control, six air bags, and 4 wheel disk anti-lock brakes standard - and the MRSP is less than the 2008's. A/C is optional (like anyone would order one without) but the base with the above safety features and the a/c is till about $1,000 less MSRP than the 2008's. Figure you won't have the rebate and it is about even. I think edmunds and kbb.com have pricing info on the 09's.I was offered a good deal on a 2008 including $750 disc., $1,250 rebate, $1,000 loyalty and $2,000 GM Card (essentially $5,000 off MSRP) but still decided to wait. I can wait until they put the rebate back on.

Personally, I'd get an '07. The '09 Vibe is a new model (well, more of a refresh) and I doubt there will be many rebates early on. Besides that, this current generation of Vibes has more than proven themselves in regards to reliability and owner satisfaction.
With a 2009, you get a new design with lots of good features but with that comes new bugs, glitches, squeaks, rattles, and various other problems/annoyances that may take a year or two to get worked out... IMHO, I would steer clear for a couple years. Not that all first year cars are bad, many can turn out to be alright, just something to think about. By now, I would think the current generation would be a better bet. At least I hope GM/Toyota have attempted to address some of the issues found in the earlier models, but who knows. I'd go for the '08 unless you can get a reeeeally good deal on the '07 - in no time that car will be 2 years old by book value standards. If you pay too much for that old of a car it will bite you in the end, been there done that and I'm still paying for that mistake 2 cars later!

I usually stay away from first year models, or when they make significant changes. The Vibe is essentially a Corolla wagon. Same drive train. I love mine.

Yes, an offer of $17,500 is very fair.I just purchased my brand new 2008 Vibe on 12/28/07 for $17,750 out the door. Not counting the sales tax and fees, I effectively paid $16,550 for the Vibe. The MSRP on the window sticker was $20,835.Please let me know if you have any more questions or require further information. PlatinumVibe08
