may need to sell if it dont get better

Post by WaveAction »

well...it's that time, where im trying to find a new job, cause right now im barely scraping by with what i make..with the insurance, gas, and car payments, i usually have $50 left a pay check, which is nothing now adays..so for anyone who lives in the GTA and can maybe get me a better job lol, feel free to IM me, if not, i may need to sell my vibe to get out of this hole that im in..which sucks since i've havent even had it for a year, but i need to get some money rolling in, and eventually move out before im 30(so i got 5 yrs..and some)...unless someones interested in buying it off me now, im game for it...it's only got 9500 km on it, still brand new, i treat my cars well...tinted windows, 5 speed..oil change 3 times so far, and rotated my tires last weekend..if i do sell it, im really not sure what to sell it for, i know i gotta sell it for atleast what i still owe on it(for the financing), so about $19,000 maybe? hopefully **** will get better from here on out, if not, well, my once dream of finally owning a vibe is gonna come to an end soon..

Wow man, that sucks..... What do you do BTW, jobwise? People can't really help you try and get a job, if they don't know what you do....

Are you sure you cannot cut elsewhere? I mean bills of some kind like only getting the minimum cell phone or anything else you are billed for? Pick up an extra job maybe?I mean you will need dependable transportation for work, without it, you are stuck. And buying a beater car can cost you especially if you are trying to save. Sure a beater is not a car payment every month but when it breaks, you have to fix it and that will come out of your savings. Unless you use public transportation...

I agree wholeheartedly with toolguy. When i was a lowly private making barely a thousand a month, and insurance was almost as much as my car payment, I almost got rid of my car, but then i looked at what i would need and decided to go for a smaller cellphone plan, eating out less, and therefor driving a little less and using less gas. It sucks but atleast where i was, I lived at work, so i could have done without the car but didn't want to. You will definitely need the car for work. To save some money in the summer you might be able to bike to work. but right now i know what you're saying bud.

None. Vibe is gone.

Why don't you talk to your bosses about advancing.Dealerships may pay for your training to become a tech. You don't know till you ask.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your financial troubles. I was in the same boat over Xmas. Not fun. I was like I don't want to do this or don't want to do that, but then it got to a point that I really didn't care what I was doing, I just needed a freaking job that brought in money. I changed my frame of mind and, it worked. I had a new job a week later, that paid close to what I was looking for. Best of luck to you.PS- I also brought all my other expenses down to a minimum. that helped a lot.

a few questions to you would be...What changed? You still have the same job before you got the vibe, correct? What do you think put you in this situation?Didn't you sit down and figure out your expenses before you bought the Vibe?I have a big problem with people who don't have a long term vision.I grew up in that type of situation with my parents, granted they are wonderful people but they never think threw their money situations, till after they buy something that they can't aford.I understand situations like BC ran in to where he lost his job and that is something unforseen, I get that. What I don't get is people who have a job, had that job for years. They know their take home pay but yet go out and spend thousands of dollars on what ever... only to suffer in the long run with bad credit and complaints about money.

honestly, nothing has changed as in the rate of pay, but i have taken more then a few days off cause of injuries, and also some other personal stuff, plus i had to pay some expenses that i wasnt aware of, thats why im in the hole i am, i thought everything through, im like that, just **** came up and im just trying to get through it, and worst comes to worst, if i cant then im gonna have to sell the vibe to get one of the higher priced expense off my chest..thats all

Oh no...think positive, Wave!! I know how you feel...going through financial stress and have trouble sleeping now. Just when I thought things were getting better, find out my dog has cancer. I've never given up on her before, and not about to start now. We're going to try selling some of my website inventory at the swap meet, and hon has some computer and golf things-we need the space and the money. Maybe another part-time job or eBay some things you don't need/use?I'm sure you'll think of a way you can keep your Wave baby!

OK, first off, what you need to do is take a step back like everyone has already said. Make a budget and figure out what can go and what must stay. Don't eat out, don't go out and spend money on nothing. Sell off other items that are collecting dust or not needed. We've all been in situations that were not ideal but we all make it. 3 yrs ago, I was in a tight spot too, but I came out ahead. Now I look back and it's hard to believe how far I've (we've) come since then. These are things that I learned during my younger frivolous, spend beyond my means days:1. GET RID OF CREDIT CARDS!! If you have them, close them or cut them up! Do not use them any longer! These are the most damaging items financially you can get yourself into.2. BUDGET! account for every last penny you bring home and every last penny that goes out of your pocket! 3. CUT BACK! Cut back everything. Sit your (removed) at home and watch tv or movies, invite some friends over, just don't go out and spend money or go to places that make you want to spend money.4. DON'T SELL YOUR CAR. It's brand new, the financial loss you would take would not be worth the hit. I can't tell you how many "younger" people who think you can just sell your car (that you're completely upside down on the loan) and somehow that will make life better. You still need a vehicle to get yourself to work so what happens when you owe $4000 more than the car is worth? You still have to pay the difference. So you gonna pay for something you don't even have anymore?? Be smarter than that! Rolling negative equity into another vehicle loan is even more ridiculous! Don't do it!5. FIND A SECOND JOB. Yes, it can't be that hard to find a part time job. Hell, I can't find decent people to hire! So I have the opposite problem! And my people get paid extremely well for a pretty easy job, well over $12 an hr when all is said and done. So what if you have to be a 'Sandwich Artist' for awhile. Work! I had 3 jobs in High School and College, even when I was working FT and going to school FT, I had another PT job on the side! If you are that desperate to pay your bills, you can find a way. Ya, life happens and it sucks sometimes. But those are choices we all make whether good or bad. Sounds like you still live at home? You paying rent? If so, can you talk to your folks and see if they can ease up for a few months until you can get back under your feet? You say you want to do something in accounting or data entry, what experience do you have? none? than good luck finding a decent paying ENTRY level position that someone more qualified isn't going to take. Find something you like and just stick with it. Mavrik (Phil) is a service advisor. It was a job, it paid the bills and he survived. Didn't really think much about it. He's still a service advisor and now really enjoys it up here making 3 almost 4 times what he did in Ontario, essentially doing the same job. Me, I'm a forward thinker, hard worker, and work-a-holic. I work 7 days a wk, 24 hrs a day. This is why I was able to make myself work harder to make sure I could come out ahead of the game in the long term. Last January, I quit my comfy job and started my own business. Yes, it was scary and it sucked not getting any money or paycheck for almost 6 months! Than business started picking up and my 80 hr work weeks started to pay off! So now, 1 yr behind me, I'm about year 4 of most businesses would be in gross revenue. I'm appreciative to all those who helped me during those rough years and loyal to those who gave me good sound advice. There are a few of those people on these forums that I still talk to and still like to shoot ideas past them. You need to think about your future, not just the here and now and what you need at this moment and this second. Life moves quickly, so make sure you stay a step ahead and look up, out towards the future, a good year or so in advance. What do you want to do and then make goals. How are you going to get there and what does it take to do it. Good luck.

Thats great, I hope it works out well for you. Also I am sorry but I have to agree with Kiethvibe that you probably got yourself into the mess. However it seems that many people have put them selfs in similar situations so don't beat yourself up over too much but do learn from it and remember, there will always be unforeseen expenses, so plan for them.
