Bad News...The Vibe is gone

Post by cs1992 »

I posted earlier that my Vibe lease was soon to expire and I was looking at an '02 Protege. Well, the Protege now sits in my driveway and the Vibe had been returned to GM. I had the option of buying the Vibe, but I did not like the amount of the new payments. Anyways, I will truly miss the Vibe, it is a great car. The Protege is about the same size (minus the hatchback) as the Vibe and handles almost as well. Since it is an '02 and the Vibe was an '06 , its hard for me to compare the two cars. The Protege, with it's 2.0L engine, has a tiny bit more "get up and go", but other than that, the Vibe is superior in every way. The Vibe is certainly easier to drive and quieter on the road. I think a lot of manufacturers have addressed road noise and ride quality since the Protege was built. The Protege reminds me more of the last generation Civic than the current Vibe/Corolla (duh?). I guess I need to compare the Vibe to the Mazda3.Anyways, the Protege will be an "A-B" car...it will get me from point A to point B. With 40k miles on the odometer, virtually new tires, and a recent tune-up I hope it lasts a awhile. I will still be checking in to Gebvibe on a routine basis ansd let you know how the Protege is holding up. Thanks for all the help; this is a great board.
