Hey whats up fellas.I'm looking to add a 4 channel amp to power all my door speakers. They are memphis audio power reference series speakers. 4 ohm, 50 RMS 100 peak. Im looking for suggestions as well as recommended retailers. I'm not looking to break the bank, rather just give them the juice that they deserve. Thanks
I'd look for something that was in-dash or something small enough to fit behind your stereo. That way you don't need to spend time rewiring everything.Another bonus is that if it is in-dash you'll have a far easier time adjusting it to your liking.
What about as far as output is concerned. Should I match the RMS ratings of the speakers with the amp or should I go a little above and then turn the gains down. I dont have a whole lot of knowledge with this stuff...
I think it could be cool to use a memphis power reference pr4.50 amp, it has 4x50 watts rms, and lots of features, and I saw it list at 300$.Don't forget to give us a feeback on your choice and post some pics!Ho and I think that Sublimewind still as some good amp for sale, so go in the for sale/wanted section and take a look!

I've been running Audiobahn Intake Series amps for the last few years and have been very happy with their performance. Until a container of watermelon killed my amp on the way home from the grocery store, I was running an Audiobahn A6004T (75x4 RMS @ 4 Ohms) to power a pair of Polk Audio DB6500 components and DB650 coaxails.Currently, I have Polk DB6750 components in the front doors (another misfortune, another story) powered by an Audiobahn A4002V (100x2 RMS @ 4 Ohms). An Audiobahn A4004V (50x4 RMS @ 4 Ohms) powering the DB650s in the rear doors, plus 2 Kicker Comp C8 8" subs (100W RMS/8 Ohm each) wired parrellel and bridged on channels 3 and 4. In other words, the A4004V is running as a 3-channel amp (50x50x200 RMS @ 4Ohms).The "T" and "V" in the Audiobahn model designates the year of that series amp. "T" was 2003, "V" was 2006, "S" is 2007. (Haven't seen any "S" series amps...haven't looked either.) The "V" series amps are also slim enough to slide under the facotry amp underneath the passenger seat.Cheapest prices I've seen for Audiobahn amps are at caraudiodeals.com:Audiobahn A4004V (50x4 RMS) - $105.95 + S&HAudiobahn A6004V (75x4 RMS) - $129.95 + S&HPower: Its a vague statement, but just about any amplifier can power just about any speakers. However, it's better to overpower speakers a bit than to underpower them, but it all really depends on the person controlling the volume knob. If you crank the volume with underpowered speakers, the amps gonna clip and eventually ruin the speakers. Likewise, overpowering your speakers too much will ruin them too because you're feeding them beyond their threshold.Gain Controls: There are misconceptions about gain controls and what they're for. Some say its a volume control, others say its not a volume control. Neither side is 100% right. It actually depends on the manufacturer because the gain is a volume control on some amps, but not on others. I follow the "not a volume knob" school of thought. I use the gain control to set the amp's voltage output to match the HU's output. Every amp I have bought has had instructions on how to adjust the gain controls for that particular brand.
I have some amps in the sale section that would do you WONDERFULLY... 75w x 4 Directed 4500... And yes, if you have more power than recomended you generaly can run with a lower gain setting, which allows more "headroom" and dynamics overall.. and you get the side benifit of less noise through out the system... Lemme know if you have more questions, this is a long standing hobby of mine and I'm a former installer...
