Quick Answer Needed Help!! - Answered!

Post by stephie27 »

Can anyone tell me quickly if the heat controls and the gear shifter are normally lit up ? I had an aftermarket stereo installed and the shop did a terrible job... My husband is on his way up to the shop that did it now... and Im trying to figure out if they screwed anything else up, and my husband asked me if those are normally lit, because they are not now, and since Ive only had the car like a week, I cant be sure. Can anyone tell me off the top of my head if those should be lit? Because he will be there very soon! Thanks for your help!!

What are you doing with the stock head unit? I could use it, half my display is burnt out.

False Alarm, My husband came home and said he realized he didnt have the lights on. So the shop didnt screw up the lights... Still did a horrible job, but they didnt screw up the lights! This is what happens when I let my husband drive my car...

lloll, easy fix, atleast it wasn't serious. As Raven said, post up here if you decide to sell the stock head unit as there are members here that would buy. Half my display is out because I accidentally punched it. This is my third stock head unit and this one is starting to skip cds already like the last 2!!!

Well I cant see any reason to keep it, since I love my new HU. So what would you guys consider a reasonable price for the stock HU?

What made it "horrible" I'm a former installer, so I might be able to help you "clean" it up.... What concerns me is a horrible job on a remote starter, they have to break in to the cars main wiring harness under the steering colum and that can be a mess, or worst case a FIRE waiting to happen... Could you possibly get pics of the problem areas and either IM them to me or post them??

Well first they scratched up the underneath part of the passenger side dashboard really good.... Like Gouges!! Then when we went to drive it home, the battery was not reconnected, the cable was just sitting on top of the battery terminal, so when my husband stopped for Pizza on the way home, he couldnt get the car restarted. Luckily at some point it occured to him what the problem was and he was able to get it connected well enough to get home and then fixed it once he was back in our driveway. Also, they shoved all of the components behind the glove box so when you opened the glove box, it was very difficult to get it closed again. Also, the unit had a built in bluetooth, and they didnt run the microphone. They kept trying to tell me there was no microphone that the stereo just needed to be programmed to my phone. Now, I know Im a girl, but I can read the installation manual, there was clearly a microphone that needed to be run from the back of the stereo and then connected to say my visor or whatever area seemed most logical. And the car was a complete mess when the were finished! Oh and the other problem they were having was while the car was still in their shop, they installed the remote starter, and the parking lights were staying on when they would lock the car with the remote. But they spent like 2 hours telling us there was no problem instead of telling us that they were having trouble. So this dopey guy comes out to talk to my husband like 3 hours later and tells him the problems and then tells him, that my car is basically a Toyota Matrix!!!! NO KIDDING?!?!?!? If you had come out and talked to us for 2 seconds instead of just telling us there was no problem and that you were putting the wires up for the last 2 hours, we couldve told you that!!!! So he said he was going to rewire the car with the Toyota Matrix instructions, which took another HOUR!!! When all was said and done... they had that car for 8 hours! For a job they told us would take 3 1/2. They had us come back there to pick it up at 4:00. But then didnt have the car ready till 8:00, so my husband was in that store for 4 hours waiting, they whole time they just kept saying "20 more minutes, just putting the wires up and closing up the car". Seriously, anyone in Bergen County, steer clear of Untouchable Sounds!! I went back up there last night to throw a fit about the scratches in my car and about the microphone being missing. The guy said let me take a look, he took my keys, and didnt come back for a half hour. Next thing I know he comes back in and hands me my keys and says, you should be good now. So I went outside and they did install the microphone and now the bluetooth works AWESOME!! But Im sure that has more to do with the Pioneer Stereo then anything they did... And he says to me, you shouldnt see the scratches so much anymore... It was 8:00 at night... Pitch black... and he was right, I couldnt see them... I asked him what he did and he said something about them having an eraser that they use for those types of problems. This morning when I got in the car, you can see that something happened there, but the gouges are gone. Im not sure exactly what they did, it looks 100 times better than it did, but part of me feels like my car shouldnt look worse than when I took it to them, ya know?Anyway, that was my first experience with an aftermarket installation! Lucky Me!!!The remote starter seems to be working fine. Do you think I could have a problem? Ugghhh, I really was hoping that the worst of this was behind me now.
