hdr is for people that dont know how to do it right the first time...i just think that its funny that people are afraid of whites and blacks (which are nonexistent in hdr) the only thing i think it is good for is the interior decor world, those guys have issues with dynamic range...

Boy, this is an argument that could carry on for a lifetime. Properly used, HDR be a really powerful for a photographer trying to capture a scene with difficult lighting. Overused, you end up with the results on the V-Dub site. Something that looks totally computer generated. I'll be honest, I use HDR at times because I notice I underexposed an area and lost detail in a photo. I never use bracketed exposures with my camera (mine only goes +/-1EV so it's pretty pointless) so I'll use it with a single raw file if I've really buggered something up. Simply put, it has nothing to do with not KNOWING how to do it properly, sometimes things just don't work out the way you planned.OK, now to answer the OP, no I don't think anyone has taken an HDR photo of their Vibe.
to properly do hdr you cant just use one raw image, you have to bracket...most people do at least 3 stops under and 3 over and use cs3 to combine, even if you are shooting raw(which most people who shoot digital should) you can still lose image detail, if something is pure white or pure black in your original photo, its going to stay that way no matter what you do to it in raw editor (unless you just turn it gray) dont get me wrong, hdr is a powerful tool yes, but its overused to the point where its not really a photo anymore...its more just digital art...as for doing it properly, ive seen people who apparently dont know what a tripod is try to do it and end up with bizarre soft/totally messed up shots because they try to combine 3-5 pictures that have objects in different locations...

Oh, I'm not arguing that it's best to bracket. Single RAW isn't true HDR but it CAN turn a nearly perfect shot into the one you really wanted to get. Overall, I'm a little tired of seeing HDR because most people overuse it and end up with that funky computer generated look and more digital art than photograph. As for the tripod thing, don't even get me started. Actually, maybe I should stop now because I could go on and on and on about photography all day and I hate to drag this off-topic.
you arent the only one, i used to shoot high school sports for the Dallas Morning News...i just hate seeing people that dont know anything about shooting do retarded crap...it annoys the heck out of me...

I have to take 20 shots to get 2 good ones, but I think my crapy sony PAS is the biggest problem... Looking for a better camera under 300$, suggections?
wow -- touchy subject I just like how the pictures looked. I'm a novice so I'm assuming you can achieve the same look in 1 shot or by additional editing?
yah, if your digital can shoot in raw and you have a way to edit raw photos, do it, it will make it a lot easier to get what you want out of a photo. sublime, if you are looking for a good p&s, i would stick with canon, they have some nice cheap ones that are

The examples provided in the first post has a boat in water. How can you get multiple shots and then combine?
If there's something moving in the photo it's not really possible. That's the trick to bracketing. You've pretty much got to have a still (or VERY nearly so) subject.
or in my case have a camera that does 10fps yeah movement it out...too bad the canon s3 is a decent point and shoot if you really want to do it, you can bracket with your s3, just make sure it doesnt move at all on the tripod while you are messing with it...start with 3 exposures, +1, -1, and proper and combine them in cs3 with hdr merge

http://www.hdrsoft.com/gallery/gallery.php?id=5 that right there is using hdr in a good way although i would have just used off camera fill flash, but this is nice and subtle unlike the extreme (geih) crap that most people do... oh crap that link is just to that page...if you go down the side to the picture of the canoe, thats the shot i was talking about

Nice piece of kit, that one. I was hoping to get my Oly E3 this year but looks like I might need to save up just a tad more for it.Oh and just as a note, CS2 will do HDR merge too just not quite as well.
oh yah i know cs2 will do it, my best friend used to do it...psh unlimited funds, im a poor college student driving a 1992 nissan rustbucket i shoot film for the most part, lots of slides, please dont buy an olympus...save a bit and buy a nice used canon 20d, its a great camera with good noise control (actually usable at 3200) and has the lovely Eos lenses backing it. I find them in the 400's all the time...its 5fps and if you get the battery grip for it, its just a great all around camera!if you get the e3, you mark my words, it will have disgusting noise, that sensor is way too small to put that many pixels on...that system was doomed from the start...bad sales, slow processing, slow fps, no lenses (effing 4/3)...we actually won an e330 for our high school because we were the best school in the state of texas in 05 and 06 and it sat on the shelf gathering dust because none of the 60 people with access to the archive ever wanted to use it....it was horrible, i wouldnt buy any system with sensor IS...i realize its cheaper but you will suffer in many wayslike i said stick with a 20d, 30d, or 40d, or even a nikon d50, d200, or similar...stick with something thats good and has a good lens system, since lenses are what really matter more than anything...you dont need speed to shoot sports...http://whydoidothis.deviantart...94555 http://whydoidothis.deviantart...90697 not much different huh? i had issues with the d2x that day, like i said its lenses that matter....Sorry for hijacking this thread well, you can uhh...do hdr with any of these cameras!! and shoot raw! yay i kept it to the point

Umm... thanks for totally trashing the system I shoot with, actually (and I think I do quite well with). I do use a Nikon or Fuji Sx for my studio work, though. And yeah, I think we're done hijacking the thread. Again, this could go on forever.
yup, sorry about this bull millster, there just isnt a good lens base for olympus...try finding a 400 2.8 for it...all their good lenses are way overpriced for sure, and barely anything third party. Ive never met someone good that uses olympus, do you have a site where you have some of your work? I would love to change my opinion on olympus/ their users...sorry if i offended you but they just dont have anything for sports/photoj people...the viewfinders are unbearably small though...Edit: i think the olympus would be great for wildlife with its 2x crop, i cant even imagine that 90-250 f2.8 with a 2x crop thats beastly lol

Oh, believe me I know about the lens situation. BUT, the E3 is getting stellar reviews and I hope THAT will change the A/M lens situation. Remember, it's new. It hasn't been around as long as the f-mount and EOS. I'm holding out hope. Now as for examples, you ARE one of my DA friends. Have a look around. A whole HOST of E500 examples. You ARE definitely right on the sports/photoj but for us concept and landscape folks, they work pretty well.
have you ever tried ir? its really not much work...you have a lot of stuff that involves foliage, you should try it if you are willing to buy the filter...its a lot of fun to make black and white irEdit: NM haha i just ran into one

Since my S3 doesn't do RAW, I might try creating a HDR pic in the spring --- it's to damn cold to stand outside right now
aight Al, i know the feeling, ive been wanting to shoot some stuff around lake superior but its been in the negative degree f's...thats a bit cold for someone from texas... like i said...when you try hdr, just shoot one shot at -1, one at 0, and one at +1 and combine with hdr merge, if you dont have cs2 or cs3, you can send me the pictures and i'll merge them for you if you want...good luck
