A new chip found on ebay CHEAP!?

Post by my07vibe »

has anyone seen or tested this?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...81026From some of the replies it's aparently a resistor. It claims to make the motor run leaner. I'm imagining burnt pistons here....

Remember, you get what you pay for. It's crap. My little bro purchased one of those (he was 17 when he got it). It is a little wire that you are supposed to plug into your MAF. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work. It's a bunch of B.S.

They're crap. Crap, crap, crap. My guess is it just tricks the computer into thinking it is getting different input from the sensor than it really is, so the computer compensates. If the manufacturers could add one of these to bump up FE by 9 MPG and add 45 HP, this would already be installed on cars. Everybody loves more power and wouldn't mind more mileage either. But they aren't on there since they don't work.

If this is ANYTHING like the cheap "performance" chips for, say, a 4.3l 6cyl GM motor, it's nothing more than a resistor that tricks the intake ait temp sensor into thinking it's getting a different reading... Buy one, test it out... for the money, it would be worth someone getting it just to diss-prove it..

hahahahahaTricks your MAF to thinking your at WOT and so you get fuel and air dumped into the system. No gains. Give me $10 and I'll make one for you using $2.00 worth of parts from Radio Shack.Although who am I to talk, I just bought a $75 HID kit off Ebay, lol

The repetition around here is starting to drive me insane. the forum mods and administrators supposedly can take two similar threads and merge them into a single one. If you think that should be done, then find a thread you think this should be merged with, and IM it to a mod , or "report" the thread and pass along the link to the other thread you recommend a merge with. So, for example, you could click on the "report" link (this icon ) in the first post inthe thread, and in the section for comments, enter "recommend this thread be merged with http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=11074 " The mods may or may not agree, and honestly, I haven't talked to any of them about how they really feel about merging threads. Maybe they prefer not to, perhaps one will post up a moderators perspective and preference on thread merges. But it might be something to try. That whole "better to light a candle than to curse the darkness" stuffanyway, I wouldn't waste my money on the subject chip, I didn't even look at the ebay listing, I'm inclined to think that the vehicle manufacturer is better qualified to design the sensor inputs to the engine than some random seller on ebay.

It actually stated that it actualy LEANS out the engine...

For Grins and just to check them out for the money back gar. it was a resistor and my 06 vibe wouldn't even start with it in. Pure hoax, I'm getting my money back so nothing lost. I really need to find something to get better mileage

Checked out that listing - for some reason the seller seems to have plenty of + feedback. Strange. But I also vote that it's BS. Probably a resistor. Developing a real chip is no simple task - even for a simple chip you are looking around a cost of at least $100K NRE even before making the chip - usually it is much more plus the cost of making the chip. However, I believe many aftermarket ECMs probably use micros which will be much cheaper.

if you actually see all the feed back, he has like 10 "people", probably himself or a friend who have gave feedback 5 or more times in a row and obviously gave him positive feedback..so that explains why he has such a high percentage for feedback
