OBD 2 interface

Post by ullbergm »

I just got a obd 2 interface from http://www.scantool.net. It works great in a Pontiac Bonneville (2002). But when i try using it on my vibe i dont get anything..Anybody know if they changed the OBD interface for the 2003 models or what is going on?Thanks,

quote:You did the get code book with it right? All i bought was the interface card, not a scanner. I'm writing a program to do the statistics, errorcodes, etc.I'm going to look at the library, hopefully they have the SAE/ISO standards there.. if not i may have to buy the books.. kinda expensive thou..You can find the trouble codes online, but if you want to do more than just that (odometer, rpms, coolant temperature, etc.) you have to get a actual book.. Hopefully the ISO interface will work, thats what toyota uses..

On Board Diagnostics II. I don't remember if II is technically revision or level, but an interface implies that it connects the on board computer to something. Does this device actually let you hook up to a laptop, or do you just count the number of times the LED flashes?BTW - the website does not list the Vibe in the list of supported vehicles, but also does not list the Matrix under the ISO part number, so you're pobably wasting your money if you're going to buy the ISO...Either way, let us know, it would be nice to pull codes on my own - the dealer cleared my engine misfire codes twice and all the explanation I ever got was "no trouble found". If I had a scanner, I could have done this on my own...
My old Abyss GT - Power, Moon and Tunes, Monochrome Mods - Installed , then removed, Sylvannia Silverstars (Headlamp only)Future mods - ?

(i hope )Didn't get a chance to try it today but i may tomorrow.quote:Either way, let us know, it would be nice to pull codes on my own - the dealer cleared my engine misfire codes twice and all the explanation I ever got was "no trouble found". Good news, the ISO interface works great. Now all i need is to get hold of a copy of the standards (SAE 2190/ISO 9141), hopefully the library has a copy of them.
