may finally know when i'm coming home

Post by joholste »

The army may have actually finally given us a day that we would be coming home...thing that sucks though is in the army there's what we call the 3 week rule...something can happen up to 3 weeks prior or after when it was supposed to. I'm not getting my hopes up too soon but it looks like i'll be home sometime in June, at the worst i'll be back by July. Becky obviously isn't too happy about the date because it's getting danger close to the wedding day...but I'm happy just because now that they've at least given us a day to expect I have something to look forward to...not just some big open ended promise.

Well, at either rate, I'm sure you are pretty stoked to be coming back to the home turf and we'll be glad to have you back! Thanks for what you're doing over there!

yeah it's no problem really...it's my job...but thanks for the support. I am definitely keeping an eye on the elections trying to figure out who's gonna be running the army when i'm nearing time to get out.

So, in other words, who is elected will determine if being in the army is your job or if it's your career...

not necessarily i have my hand in several cookie jars right now...but one of them is a possible reenlistment..and if the wrong person gets elected i'll break that cookie jar ha ha...but I already know i'm not going to make a career out of the army...the main reason i'm looking at a reenlistment is i've got a high mortgage and soo i'm trying to figure out what the house market is up to if i'm going to be moving.

I'm pretty liberal...and the big thing is right now i really don't want to deploy again...i want to start a family and be able to come home at night to them...not call home at night.

Thank you for your service and your contribution of photoshop skillz! I was listening to the radio yesterday (Air America) and the news update said that the plan to draw dawn 13,000 troops in May/June was still in effect, at least according to an administration spokesperson. Were you shipped out as part of that escalation that resulted from Patraeus' report? If so, things look to be on target. Stay safe out there.

I shipped out about 30 days or so before the extension came out and it looks like i'm going to be spending a little over 15 months here...if i was single it wouldn't be too bad for me...but i have someone at home who i miss..i also miss my puppy. oh yeah and they could overlap onto my wedding.....grrr...... It pissed us off sooo badly. the funny thing to watch was the retention people trying to get everyone to reenlist after that came out and pretty much everyone was like f' off.
