Dealer told me my 05 has a 7 yr & 70,000 mile powertrain warranty. never checked up on him in the book though.

The Toyota TSB mentioned above indicates that this repair is covered under the federal emissions-related warranty of 96 months/80 kmiles. That's separate from either the bumper-bumper or the powertrain warranties (which are only 36 months/36 kmiles for the '03 - '06 Vibes).
