alright well my L5 has been sounding a little weak for awhile and i took it out today (to check my seals really...) and i was looking at it and one of the lead wires was cut in half O_o, does anyone know what i should do? should i just solder it back on, it looks like a piece was like cut out though so im gonna have to extend it so its long enough to travel through to its xmax...its wired in parallel right now, there is no way it ripped the thing off, has anyone ever had this happen? this is an awesome woofer, ive always liked it for how nice it plays in a decent sized sealed box (it helps that i got it for dirt cheap too )sorry in advance for the pictures, i took them on my palm treo and they suck hardcore...the third picture is how one of the other 3 look...

wow, um sorry i should have marked what i was talking about these pictures are worse than i thought...god i hate camera phones...well most people that know anything about speakers should be able to pick out the lead wire and figure out what im talking about, has anyone had this happen to them, ive never had it happen(besides this)...

If you're talking about the black wires (if you want to call them that) going into the actual sub, then get ready for it, had the same thing to my S10L5! Took it back to the dealer and they replaced it, but yeah, that "wire" is some kind of flimsy cloth/plastic type covered small wire that apparently breaks pretty easily. It is pretty much done, you can't fix it that I know of. To me it didn't look like the type of wire that could be solder-repaired, but hey, if you want to gie it a try, especially if it is out of warranty, then go for it, but I would contact Kicker first to see if you can get it replaced/repaired through them or the place where you bought it.

You can try kicker, they will susally do a re-cone for roughly half the cost of the woofer... and you get a re-cone, because they can't just replace the lead... It didn't burn off?? My GFs brother just burnt the Tlead off of one of his kicker 15's it was so funny, he dropped off the box to me, like 3 hours before I got home from work, I took the sub out and the box was STILL full of smoke...
it doesnt look burnt, it just looks a bit frayed but im afraid to strip it at all since the wire looks so frail...i wouldnt say that there is enough wire sticking out to get a good soldering connection...there isnt enough wire to reach the terminal and to have enough to allow the woofer to hit its xmax, im going to try to spice another piece of wire from the tinsel lead to the terminal, what kind of wire do you think would work for this? i have no idea what kind it is, ive never had a problem with this kind of thing help!!

I'd say there wasn't enough to begin with.. as far as a wire to use, none... nothing is going to be flexible enough to replace the tinsle like wire(unless it's more tinsle like wire) that is there, that is WHY that type of wire is used..Call Kicker and see what they say..
alright, will do...i have nothing but time right now...i doubt they will fix it but thats just me, i never seem to have good luck getting stuff fixed unless i do it myself...can you guy tinsel wire anywhere? could i just use a really small gauge of speaker wire? it seems like it would work, not to mention the tinsel will still be doing the flexing, i mean it only has like 12mm of xmax...

Like I said, you are prolly looking at a "re-cone", but i'm just speculating... call and see, there an old company with great customer service... that or find a authorized Kicker dealer and call them and talk to them about it... The biggest thing is talk to someone, or you are speculating..
