Newb to this forum...

Post by vehicle_5 »

Hello all! I actually do not own a Vibe but I do own an '02 Toyota Celica GT. It happens to have the same engine as your base model Vibe's. I am signing on this site hoping to learn as much as I can about the 1ZZ supercharger. I've heard that GM made a supercharger not unlike the TRD supercharger for Toyota. Since the TRD supercharger has been discontinued for some time now and is extremely rare, I will try to swap the 1ZZ Vibe's S/C onto my 1ZZ Celica.I'd also like to get to know any Vibe owners in the PHX area, maybe you guys could come out to one of the meets I set up!!Thanks all,Brady

Welcome to the site, nice Celica! The S/C is the same for the Vibe/Trix (both are the TRD kit, GM just rebadged it, I know, I have it, and they just put GM stickers over the TRD stuff) and I assume should work just fine with the Celica as well as long as the ECU is the same, otherwise you would need to run an aftermarket Piggyback ECM like the Unichip or Greddy or whatever.

Just as everyone said it will fit your celica,as it's the same s/c.I think you guys have to use an aftermarket piggy and you also have to cut a hole in your hood if you want it to close. If you want to talk to a guy who did what you want to do,talk to Torseoman(on newcelica),he's a guy here in Toronto who did the swap in the summer and he can help you out with all the info you need.Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome Everyone!I will be running the Apex'i Power FC with the S/C, and I'll be getting the TRD S/C hood made by AIT racing soon.

Yup, I check ebay every day. Other than that, the cheapest I found was a crateenginedepot.com for $2750. Still better than buying a turbo tho.

I like the way those look better than the crotch rockets like the YZF-R1. I'd probably get the Yamaha FZ1 cause it's not as bulky looking!
