We got our first one in the other day and had an unveiling event at the dealership. I don't know many dealerships that would even have something like that but we did. Would have had a sheet over it but the one we got was to small lol.Anyway at a glance its a great car. Kinda hard to compare it to older STi models including my own because its a hatch. It also has a lot of Legacy refinements not present normally on the Impreza line up. Its 9 inches wider then the current WRX model and only comes as a hatch. Its only about 44lbs heavier then the older STi even though it has window frames on the doors, is a hatch and has different suspension unlike older models. I was expecting it to weigh a little bit more. Of course its price tag reflects its Legacy and STi mix as this model priced out at right around $40,000. Its has everything the Legacy Spec B has plus the VF48 STi turbo,22.5in long intercooler, intake manifold, 18" BBS wheel package and Brembo brakes. Here are the pics of the all grown up STi. Hey look the seats fold down eh?Large and functional.Me and my boss and I'm not quite sure what he's saying lol18" BB rim package worth $2000 into the price tag.functional side vents for the brakes.rear body flare.front body flare. Its like an over priced Vibe on a very unhealthy dose of steroids.

after crawling through it last night, I think I've moved my order date up by most of the summer! LOL Though I like the BBS package and foglights, think I may opt to go with the basic package and purchase the fogs separate (I can get them cheaper). take the LGT back to stock and keep paying it down, order the STI end of April/beginning of May and then trade her in.
very nice my friend just got an 07? impreza wagon, i didnt get to look at it too much other sit in it on the ride to the bar and then drive roughly a mile back to their house much later that night (after i sobered up cause they drank a bit)
Pics look great.I'm still not totally sold on the new design yet.I much rather have one like yours Mav.I do like the bulged fenders a lot.I'm still looking at one to replacing the sunfire with a WRX,but I've been procrastinating because I don't feel it looks mean enough.

The engine offers "better" power and there already getting 300+ out of the new WRX with minor mods (i'm sure Mav and Hope can comment more about that) It's nice, everyone was on the fence when they first brought it out (EXACTLY like the "bugeye" WRX) but many people are warming up to them quickly.... If you were that interested in getting a REALLY HOT WRX/STi, there is a guy on NASIOC selling his 10sec(10.87 to be exact) STi for LESS than the cost of a factory STi...... WOW

You must be a member for 6 mos before you qualify, however it will get you 2% under dealer invoice on all qualifying models. Must be a new vehicle of course, and currently does not include the 08 STI because it is order only. Once the car goes for sale as a stocked inventory, it should be included in the program. Hopefully by April/May it will. otherwise, we pay just a hair more with employee pricing.
I'm really diggin the Quad pipes in the back, and the framed windows. For some reason I never got used to frameless.Aside from that I guess the $40k is justified but I feel it may put the car out of its current market segment. But I guess with all the refinements you mentioned a la Legacy that it may be appealing now to a different slightly older market. Personally yesterday I was thinking that my next car may need to be a Subie. Maybe not the STi, but why not the WRX wagon in stick or the Legacy w/ a 3.0. Totally unsure as it is years and years away. I will have the Trix till it is paid off so thats just under 4 more years.
I typically by CPO anyways, never owned a brand brand new car in my life yet. My fiance's 05 Liberty Renegade is her first NEW car. We are probably keeping that for awhile as it will have waaay less mileage on it down the road than my Trix. I'm already at 61k with an 05.
ha ha. not a surprise. the car is gorgeous! damn, Derek! I knew this would happen! So..... think I'm gonna place the order end of April, arrive end of May, beginning of June. but gonna go with white and POSSIBLY do the BBS rims or just keep it simple and leave it totally stock. Though the 08 STI is not included YET on the VIP pricing, it should once it goes to stock. Right now they are pre-order only, so it may change.... regardless, I still get Employee pricing.I will add, I would NOT EVER pay $40K for the new STI. that is absurb! For that price range, I'll buy my Beamer.....

just over invoice.... however, on NASIOC, there have been a few people who are paying about $200-$500 over invoice from the dealership. It really depends on where you go and who you buy from.
My brother almost bought the first 2.5RS that was brought over here. But he opted for the Jetta GLS back in 00 with the 1.8T. If the RS had a turbo in it back then it would have been the ticket.
Quote, originally posted by Whelan »Only good thing is that you can do a lot to a base 2.5RS engine to make it bad***. That really depends on the MY of the motor, the older ones were open deck design and would hold up to FI, but not like the newer semi-closed deck design... I finally got to ride in a newer WRX with the 2.5 insted of the 2.0 and WOW what a difference, it was like my RS down low and THEN the boost hit... the 2.0 is a DOG below 3krpm...
Quote, originally posted by Mavrik »Well I'm going to be replacing the 2.5 block anyway so a GT35R with FMIC doesn't blow it up going down the track lolyeah, you would be crazy to try all that on the older style block.. the newer ones can take quite a bit, as you fully well know... That guy with the 10.87 car has all the mods in the world (like 100k+ in mods, going for less than a stock STi, crazyness)

That is EXACTLY what I and EVERYONE else in the thread thought when he quoted the price... He sells medical products, so he's got buttloads of money... go to the thread and just marvel in all the mods in his mods list... along with his time slip... It's crazy, but true!
