2009 Vibe Specifications

Post by micbarric »

Don't think this link has been posted here yet:http://media.gm.com/us/pontiac...manceIt was released yesterday at GM's media website and lists the full specs of all three 2009 Vibe models at the bottom of the page.

That rear 3/4 shot really and the tailgate reminds me of a Civic hatchback. And the GT gets a whopping 158hp?Unless the GT version is mere pennies more than the base, I may have to think twice when my lease is up. Maybe a Subie is in my future after all.

My predictions (actually pretty much a no-brainer as most competition alredy has these in 2008) of standard ABS brakes, stability control and side airbags came to pass. I suspect that these will come at almost no additional cost as the Vibe is pretty much maxed on on price now vs. competition.

the electronic steering should make the drivetrain a bit more effecient, getting more power to the wheels.still, the GT HP numbers aren't impressive at all, i guess we'll have to see what it does with them.

There's a lot of good features. Overhead console, dual tier center console, 3 prong ac power outlet and the GT runs on regular gas with a lower compression ratio than the base. A lower compression ratio means more boosting is available for supercharging and turbocharging.

Ya but that's a bogus centrifugal supercharger. I'm talking high boost numbers and high HP.

that shot of the built in cargo organizer is interesting, might come in handy at times. Also interesting that it lists the PT Cruiser, Caliber and Mazda 3 as key competitors, but it seems to me that the Toyota variant would also be a key competitor, maybe too close for GM to want to advertise it in their marketing materialsThe specs say the base 1.8L will take 4.4 quarts of oil, the 1ZZ was spec'd at 3.8 quartsthose specs are the kind of info that ought to be included in a genvibe feature story about the new Vibe, so that they will be available on the site, lots of good info in there, even tranny gear ratios, but that will probably never happen. Still it would be nice if there was a way to make that specs table available here somewhere as a reference. Pasting it into a thread would get get rid of the table layout, make it harder to read.

i like the look and always wanted a gt. but 158 hp? im at 135whp now and the gt's curb weight is 3085. and i still get mileage in the 30's.ive ignored the previous post about the 09's for he most part. because the g8 had m attention.but know im kinda torn. performance aside. i could see myself in both cars but more so a loyalty thing with the vibe.unless a gt is over 22,000 then forget it and with all those options standard its gonna be pricey.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

Nice to see they have a real tilt telescopic steering wheel. Hope it adjust more than the present one. I like the new look. I will miss the hatch glass being able to open but over all it is a nice vehicle. Of the three I think I would opt for the AWD version as it reflects most of what I liked about the 05 one. I think they will sell a ton of these things. I'll be ready in 2009 give them a chance to work out all the bugs.

No I don't drive one. Sorry. Not that there is anything wrong with them, it's just that my personal situation does not allow for another car.

Are the 2009's going to have the option of paint, or are they still using the same processes/equipment used on the first gen? LOL!I understand NUMMI was supposed to get a new paint shop sometime in the near future, just wondering if it's ready yet.

Its handy - I also use it to contain my groceries behind the back of the organizer - so it acts as a barrier to stop the groceries from sliding forward.

So according to that, only the 2.4L models will have the fold flat front passenger seat. Not even an option like the cargo organizer is. Hmpph.

I like the "tilt" but I really don't see much use for the telescopic.Used the glass hatch a couple of times in taking my lawnmower to be serviced. The handle will go out the window with the hatchback closed.I am negative on the apparent reduction in window size.I can't say I like or dislike the "new look" Either is o.k. Sad that the roof rack is gone. Question if electric power steering is really an improvement. Seems like one more thing to go wrong.I doubt that the minor increase in HP, torque, decrease in noise, will be noticable. Like the standard added airbags - not that excited about anti-lock brakes and stabiltrack - more to go wrong.Would not pay the monthly fee for On-Star.Can't tell if the 09 still has the assist handles. I like those.Windshield is slanted enough already.Redesigned hatchback appears to have reduced cargo area by 10%.Not sorry to see the cladding go.Wonder if the price reduction was accomplished by some cheapening" and/or corner cutting.

found this video of the car on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hh9QjU_f8A doign a test run it seems. Personally I have to say if the car continues to look this way I will not be buyign a new one, they done messed up everything I liked about how the vibe looks.I noticed the tail lights are diff, wonder if they will fit older vibes to finally get a new look?oh and just for fun, some kids ghost riding in a vibe : ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHK5Dw7xvic
