Camshaft Position Sensor

Post by slowmaro305 »

Hello everyone, new to the forums here. I am helping a friend of mine out who has a bad cam position sensor on his 2006 pontiac vibe with the 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine. I was wondering if anyone here has ever changed one or could tell me where a diagram could be found that locates the sensor. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

Welcome.Go to http://www.matrixowners.comOn the front page there are some links to Matrix Repair manuals. You'll find everything you need in there. If I remember correctly, it's either on the left front of the engine by the alternator, or way under the throttle body area.

Hmm there are 2 sensors. Both which tricked me.One is the oil thing. When facing the engine lookin in the hood its on the left side. On the right side that is circled is the camshaft position sensor.I have a spare one for sale if you need one. But the engine code is tricky. When I got the error code it was for the brass sensor on the left side..the oil something something. The GM PONTIAC code said OVERHEAD Camshaft sensor. The TOYOTA CEL code is for OIL Control valve.
