Spring clip for fuel door popped off

Post by cohocarl »

I went to fill up my Vibe last week, and I heard something fall to the ground when I popped open my fuel filler door. It was 5:30am, and I was running late for work, so I picked up a small black plastic piece and put it in my coat pocket, filled up, and went to work. I had forgotten about it till yesterday a.m. when I went to fill up again and the fuel door wouldn't pop open. I had to prop up the opening lever with my safety glasses so I could reach the door to open it up. I figured out how the plastic piece fit and snapped it back in. Anyone else have the same problem? I'm glad I noticed it had fallen off and picked it up!!.Later,Carl

TTTThought I'd bring this up again. Has anyone noticed when you open your fuel door it pops the little black plastic "spring" out of it's seat? I have to be careful to not open it up past 90 degrees (which is difficult sometimes) or I hear a "pop" and I have to re-install the plastic thingie. It doesn't look damaged or anything. I may have to take a trip to the dealer. Thanks,Carl

cohocarl, how did you put it back in? My brother filled up our car while we were away and this happened to him so now our door doesn't pop open. I took a look, but can't figure out where the black plastic piece goes. It has a piece of metal on it as well... kinda "v" shaped I think.

Hi----I haven't looked at mine but I'm sure if you swing by the dealer they can pop it back in while you wait. After all that is what warranties are for. BEST OF LUCK!!!!!!!! James (Vibe)

After some scrutiny of the part, we were able to pop it back in with no problems. Door opens pops open perfectly again!
