Does anyone know the stock speaker wattage?

Post by SalsaVibe2003 »

I just installed a new Alpine head unit in my 03 Vibe. Everything is working, save the popping noise that is heard whenever i change tracks and the fact that the volume at 5 is the loudest i would go. I know that line level converters would solve the second issue, but i was toying with the idea of an aftermarket amplifier. So i was wondering if anyone knew the wattage of the stock speakers, in case there was any possibility that i could get away without replacing them. Thanks guys!

If you aren't using the M&T system, probably RMS of around 12 watts, maybe peak of 23w.If you're using the M&T system, I have no idea, but you'd need to get an amplifier capable of driving six speakers at 2 Ohms. The tweeters have a crossover built into the factory amp. (Or you'd need a four channel with crossovers for the tweeters). The stock speakers on M&T are probably around 23w RMS @ 2 Ohms, guessing 50w Peak. This is all assumption though.

Yeah, without knowing what stock system you have it's hard to say... If you are using the factory amped system, it's best to bypass when changing things... If it's a non-amped system, then there shouldn't be an issue...
