1st 2nd shift

Post by vibe Freak »

When I floor it and it hits red line it will bounce of the rev limiter and then slam in to second. What can be done to fix this? I talk to a transmission shop in town and they said Its all in the computer. Will a level 10 valve body fix the problem? I know if I let of the gas right before red line it will help. Please Help

I'd talk to Lancer about the job he had done on his tranny. I would say the stall needs to be increased. I was looking at getting that valve body and then a new torque converter. Not sure if that's all I would need or not.

I've also noticed this. I would also say that it is the computer that responsible since it is the thing that triggers the shift baaed on speed and accel pedal position. Maybe there is a mod to the PCM to hold first for longer. I've ccasionally found it annying myself. You could possible make a mechanical mod by using a stiffer spring for the 1-2 shift valve but then the shifts will always be delayed unless the line pressure in some way can also be factored into the mod.Have you tried manually downshifting to the lowest gear to see if it will hold first until you upshift manually.Higher stall speed would give you a better launch but overall will run the tranny hotter (until TCC apply) and give you worse gas mileage in lower gears.
