dashboard buzzing

hey guys I know we've beat this one to death, but my dashboard noise seems just a little different from everyone elses. I get a buzzing on acceleration either near the drivers' side(left of steering wheel) or near the radio and i can usually minimize it by pushing the dashboard on the drivers' side in toward the windshield. The problem seems to be an excess of play in the dashboard - about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The questions I have are: 1. Is this amount of play normal? and 2. How is the dash anchored near the windshield. thanks, i've already seen that post and it's hard to see from his photos how it is anchored at the windshield.

Also, further to this, I had the car in on warranty at the local gm dealer and they had the dash apart 3 times. They were really quite hopeless.
