I really need some good advice from you guys.We can get a new 2008 Vibe out the door, with tax tag, title, and all dealers fees for $18700 (price also includes the $2000 in rebates)This 2008 Vibe includes these optional packagesAutomatic TransmissionMonotone Paint PackagePreferred PackageAnti Lock BrakesNow we just hear that the 2009 version will have most of these packages standard, and still be cheaper or around the same price.1. Do you guys think we should try to negotiate a better price than we are currently getting for the 2008 model? 2. Are we getting a pretty good deal for the 2008 model? thanks for the help!
Well, I "think" we are getting it close to invoice price at $18700 with all the options and tax included but with the new and improved 2009 only a couple months away for about the same price, what is the incentive to buy the 2008 anymore, unless you get an amazing deal maybe.I am wondering if we should negotiate more with the dealer nowthats what concerns me
Can you wait? If you need a car and you need it now, you may have to pay the full price, but if there is no rush, you are negotiating from a position of strength because it is not something you need right away. You could always try to negotiate, it probably won't hurt. Good luck!
thanks for all the responses guys..Yea, we are going to wait.. as the 2009 Vibe just seems like you are getting a better car for the money. With a new 6 month old, and all the new safety features being standard now on the 2009 just makes the decision easier.I like the look of the 2009 also. They would have to offer major incentives on top of the 2k they currently offer on the 2008 to make me go with that at this point.
TOo late, but I would try to negotiate. I got mine for around that price back in 2002 when the first shipments arrived and that was without any discounts as far as I remember.

According to NADA.com,2008 Vibe4 spd Automatic TransmissionPreferred PackagePremium Monotone4 wheel ABSInvoice including Destination Fee: $18,736MSRP including Destination Fee: $19,970Add another $400 for Dealer Doc fees plus whatever sales tax you may have... Subtract $2000 for the rebate and if that's what your end cost is... than you should be pretty close. Personally, I feel no more than $500 over invoice is a fair price.

The invoice probably has about $350 added for regional ad fees, gas, consumer communication that doe snto show up on Edmunds.2. $400 doc fees? In Ohio most dealers now charge $250 and that is no less a rip off than paint proterction. The wait for a 2009 might be longer than February and GM may load up the intiial builds with profitable options such as moon roof, deluxe sound system, alloy wheels etc.

i don't know on the dealer doc fees. we only pay actual cost on the STI and will do so again on the new one. so who knows. That's what I remember it being from 3 yrs ago or so?
Go to edmunds.com, there site can tell you what the dealer paid for the car and what others are paying. I have used them for 20+ yrs. to get prices for new cars. I just bought an 08 for $14,500.00 without power windows and a manual transmission. It is white without the monotone paint. I like it better than the 06 red one I had with the monotone paint. It came with many standard feautures like rear defroster, power windows, rear wiper,cd stereo etc etc!! I love it, 34 mpg in the city on the first tank!! You should get a minimum of $ 3,000.00 off sticker no less including the 2k rebate. Hope this helps?
