Not sure why they didn't drop a 911 motor in there but I guess the Dodge block can handle the salt water conditions better.

I guess I would have expected the Porsche Cayenne Turbo or Turbo S motor. What's Porsche about it then? Just the steering wheel?

The porsche engines would never handle marine use. All the torque is needed at starting speeds on a ski/board boat, not at 6000 rpm where you see it on a porsche. You need at least a small block for something like that.

That's why I love Mercruisers, they use V8 small block Chevy motors, so durable and sound awesome!I guess it was designed by Porsche and the yacht maker Fearless out of Miami together. Just a toy that you can tow behind your Porsche Cayenne Turbo S with a special trailer that has Porsch wheels.

Has anyone ever put a Chevy small block in a Vibe? I'm sure it would be terribly front balanced. But a cool conversion would be to put it in the back seat/trunk area and make it RWD.

He built a firewall behind the front seats and made it a true mid-engine Beetle. I was very young at the time but he said it would basically try to become airborne above 130MPH.

I don't think that the V8 Vibe conversion has been done yet. I do know that V8's have been done by:LS1 into an HHRSBC into Chevettes 572 into a 2002 CavalierLS1 and LS7 into Solstice and Sky5.0L and 4.6L into a Miata

Haha! A 572 into a Cavalier! I wonder how it handled![/QUOTE]I cannot remember what car show I had seen it at. It was either a Super Chevy show or one of the larger ones in Michigan. It was yellow with two black racing stripes and as soon as I get a photobucket account then I will post it. This thing was on a dyno. The first pull it did about 690 rwhp. Then on the nitrous pull the dyno hit 800 hp before the engine started coming apart.

Check this out, there is even a C&C Corvette sailboat... I see a lot of similarity... http://sailquest.com/market/models/corvette.htm I'm joking of course, but still even with that powerboat, it looks almost like any other powerboat with some corvette lights sculpted into the stern.

I am proud of it but in general do not talk much about it here because this is a Vibe only site. I belong to Vette sites for that! However at least one post on it is probably due!

They converted it to RWD and it was faster than a Lamborghini Gallardo around a track, although the Focus had racing tires, which gave it an advantage.
