So I thought I'd update and 1st off thank you for talking me into the LGT. It took a while because I had another surgery but now the build is beginning. On Dec 19th I will be getting my car...I found an 06 white sapphire with 8,126 miles on it for $16,840 (steal!) and then I will be taking the car to Axis Racing in St. Louise for their stage 5 block, Brian Crower stage 3 camshaft, GT30R turbokit IPT's full built 5eat trans, Autometer Nexus guages, Perrin stealth FMIC, Hippo Sleek body kit, AP Racing 6 piston BBK and a few other things to still be worked out like figuring out what exhaust to go with and which intake.. I have been doing alot of reading but there are a few questions I still have...as far as wheels..what is the widest width I can run on the LGT with rolled fenders and tires..can you recommend an all season tire to fit a 19" wheel and a winter tire for the stock rims? I was torn between the LGT or the 335xi but after more looking I saw that I can buy a nice used LGT and have what I want for less than the cost of the MSRP of a 335 with the auto trans so parts were ordered and shop dates were setup for an LGT.

if you dont take pics of that thing before and after....i dont even want to mention what will happen dude sweet!!! lgt's look sweet and with all those mods that puppy is gonna purr, well kitty...i guess puppies dont purr.... you get the idea
good deal. you definitely need that built IPT tranny! check out legacygt.com. Lots more info on building a 5EAT. more things to do to the car, but in the end, it'll be a monster! Psst.... I'm looking to do a GT30R and FMIC on the STI hatch next year (once I get it). *edit*also, make sure you upgrade the suspension and brakes! i went with Brembos however, from my understanding, the stoptech BBK will clear the stock rims so you don't have to do a hunt for rims. As for tire size, I plan to pick up a wide set of racing slicks that require the fenders to be rolled. AFAIK there's a special way to roll the fenders on the LGT, i'm not sure exactly, but someone was telling me this..... remember: you need to upgrade the injectors (which I am now doing) and fuel (which I am also now having to do).
well I believe 245-255 is about the widest tire you can run with rolled fenders. At least on a legacy anyway.congrats on the new wheels. I know you'll love the car.SPT makes a great intake as far as I'm concerned as well as a very nice exhaust. Its 3 in pipe and not to loud in my opinion. COBB also makes a great exhaust for the LGT. I'll probably be getting a COBB turbo back for the STi next year.

oops, i just read the thing about the BBK and intake/exhaust.I would actually no recommend the SPT on your set up. you're going to need much larger MAF so I'd probably go with either the Perrin big MAF or the AEM set up. most of the "big boys" run those on their larger systems. You're also going to want to go with larger injectors, probably the 816cc. I know one of the lgt guys is selling his for a smoking price of $225 shipped! If I hadn't just ordered my 650's I'd have snatched those up! You need side feed injectors btw (i learned this earlier today as the 07+ use top feed). I have the SPT exhaust and I love it. It's great quality and not the cheap. IMO, i won't say this on the LGT forums because it will upset a few people there, but I found the Megan Racing products to be cheaply made, thus the cheap prices. My SPT exhaust is extremely well made, sounds great, etc. I have a custom 3" downpipe that was welded by our tech friend, so it flows fantastic. I'd also recommend going with some headers on that GT30R set up. check and see if you will need to do the wrx/sti intake manifold swap for placement. I can't remember.also add to your list:LW crank pulley (Cobb or Perrin) helps with quicker acceleration and spooling5EAT tranny mount from RallitekTein coilovers with EDFC (electronic dampers- very very cool!)Swaybars (I do recommend the COBB)and what kind of ECM do you plan to go with? I use the Cobb Accessport. I've been extremely happy with it and not willing to do the self tuning thing w/ Engenuity. Like I said, I can give you a lot more info on building the 5EAT on lgt.com (after all, I am a moderator there ) Plus, there are some of the big boys who help me out a lot when I get stuck on something, they've been there and done that, if you know what I mean. But besides that, I know you will love the car. I still love mine and am sad that I won't be able to keep it once I pick up the STI. Phil says it is pointless for me to own 2 ridiculously fast cars (I will disagree). LOL.and fwiw, i believe a GT30R set up on a built 5EAT should get you well into 11s, if not low 11's possibly even a high 10. throw in a Torco race tune on 110 octane and WOW!
I'm glad you found a new car Cory. Not to hijack your thread but since we have everyone here,I figured I'd ask.I'm looking at getting a WRX to replace the sunfire in March. Now is it better to buy new or used. From looking at prices here in Toronto, they are almost the same. And how is the maintenance on the Subaru's since I do all my own work,is it hard to change plugs, drive belts, intakes, brakes etc.I will be going 5 speed instead of auto,so I can get some more power to the ground.I'd appreciate any help

Very cool man, along with legasygt.com you need to be a part of NASIOC.com if you aren't already... Lots of tire and wheel info there as well.AP 6 pots eh, verrry nice... good luck finding a wheel to fit over them for winter, you may have to switch out brakes as well as wheels for them puppies... Congratz
Spent this morning talking a few things over with the guy here in springfield (than has a stage 6 built STI ) that is helping me do some installs before I trailer to STL and and talking to him we are going to change 2 things from what originally talked about at Axis. 1st instead of the Perrin kit I will be getting the Ultimate Racing T3/T04S Turbo kit. he can actually get it for $300 cheaper than the 30R kit from Perrin. Also adding GT Spec headers as I have am friends with Noah@GT Spec and can get a great deal on them, adding Perrin 816cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump and going to go ahead and get Axis's port/polish and head work done as well since I will be saving money bringing in a block they said and not having a new block built. For EMS we are running the UTEC Delta, on the brakes I may opt for the Cobb BBK instead as I was missquoted on the 6pots and they are $3,200 for just the front. (EEK!) Gotta draw the line in there somewhere. On suspension I like the Racecomp Engineering 400/400 coils and I'm hoping to read more reviews on them. (I'm already on LGT, I'm the one you PM'd with the avatar needing removed...lol )As for pictures I got a new camera just so I can take pics and vid of the install we're doing here then getting some pics at Axis. Def looking forward to this build, so far only 4 people know about it and we can't wait till it's done and we can take it to the air strip they opened for ppl to race at outside Mt Vernon. I'll post the part list when he emails me back with the changes. The LGT really can't be beat for it's price...I looked at AWD sedans and for the price of the other nice AWD cars out there...putting that $$ into the Legacy and making what I really want was a no brainer. The 335xi I looked at was $54k with the auto and the S4 was upper $50's...over priced out the (removed). The tranny cost is what is hurting the pocket on this build...wish I could drive stick again. Gonna wait till Summer for the kit and keep the sleeper look for a while. Getting hit with a damn ice storm right now again, everyone around losing power luckily *knock on wood* we haven't lost power here yet but just to the west has been out since yesterday morning.

But spark plugs on turbos are due every 60k... what ever that changes to in KM lol. As far as new or used... all depends on your location. I would NEVER buy a used WRX up here in alaska if I wanted a dependable vehicle. Just about every WRX up here has gotten modified with cheap parts by someone who had little to no experience on what they were doing. Then when they trade in the car they put it back together stock with parts missing or in the wrong way. Plus on top of that, you never knew how they treated the car. Buying a used WRX is a lot different from say... buying a used mini van. Now I hear that the canadian market is dropping their prices on Subaru because of the dollar being just about even like it is. If you can, buy new. If you want some quick not to expensive mods that will have a noticeable difference on your car's performance. I suggest a good turbo back high flow catted exhaust system. I'm fond of COBB products and they are not to loud and no big fart can out the back. Also run a COBB access port with a stage 2 map. Replace the stock engine and tranny mounts with STi solid mounts. Either go coil overs or springs, your choice to stiffen the suspension. With that set up, your power wise is about the same as what the stock STi would be.

NO NSFW FOR YOU! ha ha ha!also on the brakes, really, not sure on pricing for the stoptechs or Alcons, but I'm told they are also top notch! I got a KILLER deal on my Brembo BBK from Kingofparts, less than employee cost at our dealer! and UR products are TOP NOTCH. I am told that's the way to go for my 30R set up I plan to do next year. If they make it, then I'm told I should get it. and yes, most certainly cheaper to have your tranny rebuilt and reinforced than buying completely new. I know when I spoke to IPT about it back in March (whenever I had to do my VB mod) they told me approx $4300 exc shipping. they'd knock off the $650 I already spent on the VB though, so it would be pretty close or a little more with the shipping due to where I'm at and they are in NJ.

You never know what was done to the car, engine, tranny, turbo, etc. with the turbo, it's a lot more complicated imo than a s/c. more parts to go wrong, but more power to be made too. If you don't want to fork over an insane ammt of $$$ to start, than look at a wrx TR, it's the base model and "Tuner Ready". there's also a local Toronto Subaru Owners group there, but most of those guys are asian. They were the ones that were at the little meet you stopped at. I thought it was funny, up here, most of the subie guys are white. There is was pretty much all little Asian guys. LOL. I think Phil and his buddy (also 6'3") towered over everyone, even sitting at the dinner table.

it's a 5EAT but gets PLENTY of power to the ground! I talk to the original owner and the new owner on a regular basis. great guys! And it's a steal for everything done on the car, especially with a new tranny and IPT modded VB. i would venture to say it would be fully capable of 11's and very little hassle from the cops.
That is a very hot car... I would like it...unfortunately my wife said she expressly does not want a wagon...she either wants a sedan or an SUV, so i'm going to have to keep an eye on them classifieds and hope an LGT sedan pops up on the east coast somewhere....I'm gonna keep pushing it over the table at her though and maybe just maybe she'll break down and i'll get a monster sick car to drive...i mean SHE will have an excellent safe vehicle to get her to work lol lol

You need to do the valve body upgrade at bare minimum! or your car will eventually die from the power/tq. what flow of cc you getting on the injectors? I'd suggest a min of 740 cc, maybe more like 816 cc. otherwise, that mod list looks excellent!and autox is tons of fun. just get a good harness to strap you in and you won't be sliding around. I'm glued to my seat when I go flying around the course. It will probably help rebuild your confidence in driving again. I know it helps me a lot! next up on my list of things to do is rallycross (autox on dirt/mud) and I'd really like to eventually get into club racing.
Sorry, tranny is something I'm having done w/o going through Axis as will a few other parts be since we need to save some labor costs somewhere. (The block and the built trans is over 1/2 the cost of the parts ) Injectors are 816cc, I was afraid to go any smaller after reading about LittleBlueGT's misshaps. Hardest decision of all now is wheels...but those can wait. Can I run staggered offsets on AWD?

not a good idea. i PM'd you back on lgt.also, one of the members let me know his friend works at Brembo. He can get a SMOKING deal for Front or Rear kits: $2400 for both F&R with rotors, calipers, all of it NEW! so let me know if you are interested. I'll get you his info. he's a good member, so I trust him.
i just looked up a fully built cosworth 2.5L motor: $11999! HOLY SMOKES!!!! when I do my GT30R set up, I'm going to port and polish the heads, MAYBE better camshafts, but otherwise, it can handle 400whp.
guess we'll see how long the stock block stands up to daily driving 24+psi of boost with a rotated GT30 cause the stock block can't handle that...the GT30R is a 10 second 1/4 mile turbo... You can port and polish but the bottom end of the block will blow pretty quick. We'd be better off just buying a new re-enforced block for $11k...

oh booo! you're ruining my parade! :mad:ok, i'll ask Dale... and PDX.... what say ye Subie Gods of awhp and awtq!!! Me wants some POWAH!!!!! (lots more than i have now!)
Sorry been busy the last few days..my friend just learned his lesson the hard way about being a tool on a motorcycle...idiot rode a crotch rocket on ice and wrapped it around a pole. Yea...what I PM'd you about.. They are abusing my budget. No way the parts on that list + the trans=over $26k before labor. Their stage 5 which is the full built 2.5 is $6450: http://axispowerracing.net/stage5motor.html . I will be calling some vendors tomorrow and getting some answers and get an itemized balance. Christ that price in parts better be bulletproof. They are wanting to go higher than my goal too, 400whp for a street car that will be tracked is MORE than enough to hold it's own. I know boost is addicting but moderation is key. I may have to ship my car out of state and/or go against doctor orders and try driving stick again..
04 Fusion Orange Base Vibe auto Now no longer with us thanks to ignorant drivers...
you can stay within budget without doing all that. I am quite convinced. talk to Jarrad at PDX. I sent you his #. You'll want to beef up the tranny, but I really don't believe you need a fully built block unless you're going like 500+whp. torque is what kills our tranny though. we are dealing with another noob who has no clue what he's doing, shooting for 350+ whp. also, keep in mind, when our 5EAT dyno's it shows usually about 20 whp LESS than a 5MT. however, on the road, a dyno'd 5EAT vs the same # dyno'd 5MT will SMOKE the 5mt. You should keep that in mind and don't get too stuck on dyno #'s. you can have an 11 sec LGT 5EAT and I'd say that's a pretty freaking fast family sedan!
True that, dyno's are just a tuning tool times are how you really see what your putting down. My goal is to dip into the 11's and still be a safe/streetable car that I won't be worried to have my girl and her daughter ride in. Supposably that turbo has a stock feel in the band till you really get on it so thats why I decided on that kit over their suggested Perrin. Alot of the stuff they put on the list is for the STI not the LGT as well. When I get to the office I'll PM you the list I got last night from them that has prices from the vendor they use. I bet if I called around to a few vendors I could work out a deal on getting a discount ordering everything I need at one spot. I'll give PDX a ring afterwhile.
