moving sucks

Post by lovemyraffe »

As the title suggests, this move was not well on my wife or me. We moved 4 hours south to Cedar City, UT to be closer to her parents. On the plus side, I now have a 4 bay transmission shop to play in with my Vibe and other toys. When we moved my ISP would not follow to my new address, which is bizarre since my next door neighbors have the service, so I was off for a week or so. It is a small town so not all services are available, but I share a wall with my neighbors. They can have a DSL but I can't.I called 3 weeks in advance to get the DirecTV installed the same day I moved in, which they showed up on time, and told me that because of some trees that were to the south of my house, I was not able to get a signal. I called to cancel the contract and get Dish Network out to install. DirecTV said they needed a second opinion before they would cancel my contract without penalties. A week went by before there was another installer available to come out to my place. When he showed up, he was able to install and get a great signal! He mentioned that the guy who was up before was just being lazy and didn't want to get into my attic to run the proper cables. So he crawled into the attic, and was being a dumba@% and stepped on the drywall ceiling and came crashing through the ceiling bringing insulation, drywall and all sorts of other crap from the attic with him. After he left I went up on the roof to put in some Christmas lights, and the dips(^& installed an old rusted mount for the dish.Yesterday, I finally got a ISP installed. After 2 hours of these guys being at my house, the had to run new wires into the house because this special DirecTV guy had cut all previous cables running into the house, including the phone line. Have I mentioned how much I hate moving?

I know how you feel man. I am in the process of moving right now. It sucks trying to get everything packed and also have to deal with all the essentials. Like cable, phone and internet. The good part with me is that all te furniture is new, so it is all getting delivered on the day after closing. But I have to do 2 walk thru's before closing. The worst part is this is all happening the week and weekend before christmas and I got family coming to the house for christmas.
Bye Bye Vibe.............

Same relationship with/UT. I love the snow (there isn't much yet), hate the beer (3.2% alcohol sucks) but there isn't any other snow like this anywhere.

sorry to hear the misfortunes in the Direct TV world. Glad they are working with you on this, some companies would say "you were stupid enough to do business with us, we ain't paying a dime so sue us"what do you mean 3.2 ?? I haven't heard that since I went through Air Force basic electronics at Lowery in Denver. is that the only beer available ? If so, I can send you some Shiner Bock I hate moving short distances, like from one apartment to another in the same complex. you can't really pack anything. I moved my 84 year old dad in with me after my stepmom died of alzheimers. boy what a lifestyle change. kinda like having a kid, but in reverse.

sucks with the internet/sat. installers being stupid. having moved 9 times in 18 years, i don't really mind moving that much. truth be told, i didn't have to deal with signing contracts, getting phone/utilities setup, and all that stuff. just had to pack up and move the stuff. hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come at this house. hope it treats you well.
None. Vibe is gone.

3.2 does reference the beer in Utah, or as we call it "lowpoint." Utah is a screwed up state when it comes to alot of things. Beer sold in grocery stores and gas stations can not have more than 3.2% alcohol content. Light beer doesn't even come close. That also goes to beer sold in bars and clubs. The only way to get better beer a.k.a. highpoint (referring to a higher content of alcohol) is to go to the liqueur store or go to a military base. It is illegal to have a keg in Utah too. That means no Heineken mini-kegs too. Good thing the border is only 1 1/2 hours away.
