Detroit Tigers trade?

Post by mspalmer »

The Tigers possibly mortgaged their future by sending 6 prospects including 2 of their recent first round draft picks (Pitcher Ander Miller and outfielder Cameron Maybin) for Miguel Cabrerea and Dontrelle Willis. I know baseball is a long ways away but I'm now excited for 2008 season. Was this a good trade?

I think this was a decent trade. Dontrelle was not nearly as dominant last year. Maybe he lost his stuff, and Cabrerea has put on alot of weight. Not muscle, he has become chubby. I don't know much about the prospects, but with the season that Dontrelle had last year I think the Marlins got the better side of this.

I kinda think its a waste to ditch prospects but at the same point look at the Yankees. Willing to give up Hughes for Santana. The other side of the argument being, you can have a guy who is doing very well now. Or get someone who MAY be good in the future.

The tigers are hungry for a title and with these two added, they have an even better line-up for the next couple years.Curtis Granderson, CFPlacido Polanco, 2BCabrera, 3BGary Sheffield, DHOrdonez, RFGuillen, 1BEdgar Renteria, SSIvan Rodriguez, CJacque Jones/Marcus Thames, LFOn the other hand, if you're patience, the title's may come down the roadwillis will bounce back and word is cabrera's lost 15 pounds during the off season

holy crap this was the first place I saw anything about this at!Trade looks good I guess--Cabrera seems solid and I think a winning team will help Willis out.Leaves us somewhat bare for now in the cupboard, but Dombrowski and Co seem pretty awesome at drafting and signing anyway.Hopefully they can keep Inge around as a super-sub, he can pretty much play any position...though if we could get an upper echelon reliever for him and Thames, I would go for that.
