How to enable slave port on back of 2007 Vibe radio?

Post by fwvibe »

I recently Installed a PXGM24 on my 2007 base vibe. I Have no external CD changer or XM. I just needed to connect my MP3 player. Th radio does not recognize any AUX inputs other than the single disk CD player in the radio. Tech support at Peripheral Electronics said that I needed to get the slave port on the radio "unlocked" at the dealer with their special tool. I then went to the local Pontiac dealer with this information and they claimed to be unaware of this procedure. I now am stuck in the middle. Does anyone know anything about this?

welcome!I just installed the Peripheral in my car the other week. Is this the ipod one? or just a mini audio jack? where did you tap in the yellow and black wire? Do you have the DIP switches correct? I can get my DIP settings when i get home...but it took me a bit to get it working right.when it is working, you will see on the lcd on the HU, there is the single cd (if you have a cd in the drive) and a 3 cd stack, that means its working and you can plug your mp3 player in hit the cd/aux 1 or 2 times and it should swap to the aux part.

The yellow black wire is connected to a constant power 12v. There are no dip switches on my unit. I am going to check with another Pontiac dealer about enabling th port. I will let you know how it works.

I've never heard of the dealer being able to unlock the port on our radio's.First thing, are you sure that your peripheral is receiving power, check and double check(how did you tie into power),Second, where does the peripheral unit plug into, the open disk changer connector on the back of the radio. It should be plug and play.Did you try to select other buttons on your radio, mine is the band button not the aux button.

I found a Pontiac Tech at a local dealer and he hooked up his scan tool and we found that the radio had no options to enable the port on back, so this radio apparently doesn't support this function. I plan to either get a different radio or use an inline rf modulator for this radio.

um i think theres something with the peripheral unit not your radio (head unit). many people have installed aftermarket mp3 units with no issue, I have one like i said and it works great.how did you connect the wires? splicing or ?
