between seat storage unit

Post by chricton »

Can the storage unit between the front seats be fitted with the Matrix top? That is, it appeared to me the Matrix model has a different top lid to this storage compartment that is a two part system. The top most lid covers a small horizontally oriented space, then this whole lid+space hinges back for the main storage space. Also, this top looked to be taller than the Vibe top, thereby offering better rest for my arm/elbow when not shifting.Does my description make sense?

Welcome...the Trix top is the same as the old Vibe's. So it will bolt right up. It is taller, b/c of the added stoarge. Pontiac stopped in I believe 04 putting these on the Vibes. They are sooooo much nicer (The Trix ones)

I was also looking for one of these for my 07. After unsuccessfully searching ebay, scrapyards, etc, I found that Parts.com has the Matrix lid assembly for $40 and the Pontiac one for like $160. Yes, $160. I have no idea why the price difference, but because everyone on here has said they're interchangable, I ordered the Matrix lid and should be receiving it tomorrow. I'll be happy to report back on success/failure. I wanted one because my wife has an 03 Vibe, and the taller center console makes a very nice armrest. I find the only thing I'm annoyed about with my 07 is the 1 or 2 inches between my elbow and the center console lid.

I too have the extra storage lid on my 04 Base model. Unfortunately, I am short so have my seat almost all the way forward which puts it too far back to use as an armrest.

I was at the yota dealership the other day. The mounting is exactly the same, and it's only available in the 1 color... you just have to make sure if you order it that you are ordering the split compartment one, b/c on the trix you can now get it either way.

HOLD THE DAMN PHONE. Parts.com sent me the stupid lid instead of the cool secret compartment lid! The illustration for the part CLEARLY shows that it's the double-compartment lid, not the cheap one they sent. Now I've got to mess around with a return and getting the right part... This is the only time I hate ordering stuff online...
