I have an 03 base, and was wondering what PCV to use. I went to Pep Boys the other day and got one made by Purolator that of course, doesn't fit. I don't have a thread gage to know which one it is, but it's not the right one. The threaded end is longer than the stock one, and the thread is different. The replacement is a gold cadmium color and the original is a black color (may have been nickel or zinc plated or something). Is there a part number I can go with? I have several Delco and Toyota numbers to go with, but what I can't figure out is this: two different PCV's are spec'd for these cars, but there's no other determining factor. Is there a manufacture date or a number in the VIN or something, or was it just "whatever tap the machine picked out that day to thread the hole in the valve cover?" I find it so odd that there's no rhyme or reason as to which one goes in which car! Unless there is, in that case -please enlighten me. This is yet something else which was made more difficult, for no reason.
I went through this a few years ago.I of course bought the wrong one also.Mine takes the 3/8's pcv valve,I have an 04.Have fun.FRAM Part # FV407 -3/8 Pipe ThreadFRAM Part # FV406 -16mmx1.5mm ThreadACDELCO Part # CV4006C -3/8 pipe threadACDELCO Part # CV2523C -16mmx1.5 thread

This is the silliest **** I have ever heard of on this car. I hope whoever was in charge of this, was fired. Then left in a desert someplace chained to the ground surrounded by jugs of salt water. So there really is no way to tell, other than by removing it and taking it in, or by buying both? For whatever reason, no one stocks them here, so getting one is an order-and-pay up front sort of deal. How annoying.
