My plan for today is to go test drive new cars - the first step in trading Sputnik in. The two I'm interested in today are the 2008 Vue and the 2008 Rogue - and yeah I know a lot of you dislike the Rogue, but I really like it and the interior of it looks really sharp. Unfortunately with the Rogue to get the fold flat front seat, its the SL trim level with the premium package. One of my criteria is that the front seat fold flat so the hubby's kayak will slide right in. Anyway I will report back later today with my thoughts on the two.

the rogues are actually pretty nice, you've never seen commercials of the rogue? i see it all the time, with the little map and everything gets tilted and stuff..and the city turns out to be on one of those maze games i used to love with the holes and you had to tilt it..anywho..enough rambling..here's some pics for ya mav...their pretty much a smaller version of the murando or whatever it was called
We are just back from our two test drives. That Rogue is a very sweet vehicle. The inside is so well put together, so clean. Its just really really nice. The Saturn Vue is also really nice, not quite as sharp as the Rogue. The problem is the price - prices are actually comparable, but GM has all these incentives and we have GM points. Its a tough decision. The monthly payments given to us by Nissan were too high for my liking.

well the rogue doesn't look to bad.no way to get your monthly payments lower? in the end its all about driving what you can afford but also liking what you drive.

I told him what I wanted my montly payments to be. He said it was "aggressive." I said we'd think about it and he said he doesn't lose customers over price. So I'm going to think about it, and then decide this week hopefully. I think Saturn would give us more for the Vibe though - they seemed very interested in it because its only at 68,000km.

should just get the torrent if you're going for the vue...same car pretty much, might get a better deal for the vibe plus maybe a 0% financing like i got with my vibe..if they still have that deal on
Torrent and the Vue aren't the same - Torrent and the Equinox are. Right now, I'm equally torn between the Rogue and the Vue. I loved the Rogue, but I love the lower payments I'd get with the Vue... I have a value from Nissan as to what they'd give me for the Vibe, but I don't have a number from Saturn. I think thats what I have to do next is find out the estimated payments from Saturn and what my trade allowance would be. That will help decide it.

Well yeah GM might give you a better trade in on your Vibe then Nissan simply because its their model and they are interested in repeat business with you.

Does GM still have there customer loyalty bonus? I know when I bought the Vibe we got an extra $1000 off since we had a GM Vehicle that was less than 5 years old.
If God didn’t want us to eat meat, why did he make the cow so slow? (Ever eaten a cheetah-burger? Nope. And you never will.)
They did as of last year. Although only certain vehicles qualify. (And it can be in the same family too, Mom's G6 counted, but Dad's Sierra didn't. Even though I haven't lived in the same province as either of them for almost 10 years...)
Sputnik, Mav's brother works at Nissan in Woodstock, Ontario. I believe he is the internet sales/fleet manager. If you're interested, I'm sure he can PM you his info. Maybe he can do something or give a better pricing?

Ugh its so hard. The hubby likes the Rogue much more than the Vue. I like the Rogue more than the Vue too, but price... if I price out the Vue I want it is the same cost as the Rogue I want. The difference is the discounts GM offers me - GM points, coupon, wish and win, good trade for the Vibe.

keep in mind the Rogue will probably have a better resale value when it comes time to swap out vehicles the next go around. that may be worth something to you, I know it does to me.

That would probably net more than either dealer is willing to offer, and would help offset the price of the Rogue.

Well I've heard the Nissan has had a lot of transmission problems. Although I don't care much for either, I would pick the Vue. It's considered reliable, and you'll probably get a better deal. Have you driven other options?

haha! i can relate to that! I like to do a lot of research before I buy a car. It's a big investment, and I've learned the hard way with just buying a vehicle on a whim.
Yeah my very first car was a 2000 Cavalier - base model - not even AC or a CD player. I got it because it was cheap and the dealer was close to my apt. I swore I would get the car I wanted (within reason of course) from then on.

Needed a new vehicle and the Vibe was in the same price range and I liked how it looked. Glad I bought it cause there is no gencavalier.com with a singles thread
