They scratched my Vibe!

Post by VibeSalsa »

I wasn't very happy about that... I think I was angry... There's my story:Last week, I went to a garage to have my winter tires changed for the summer ones (or 4 seasons if you prefer). When I unloaded the winter tires from my Vibe to put them in my shed, I found that the passenger's door had 2 scratches... 2 very deep scratches of 2 - 3 inches long each... They were not there before I left for the garage.I went back to the garage to show this to them. Nobody knew who did that... They offered me to pay for the reparation. I will choose the place I will go.A friend of me said they will have to paint the entire door. They will not be able to use polishing compound to remove it. I'm eager to erase it from my Vibe and from my mind...

That's too bad! You're lucky though. At least they're going to pay for the repairs. Some places would just have told you they didn't do it. Hope it's able to get fixed quickly and easily!

Maybe it helps, but I went there for the last 3 years and I know personally one of the owners.quote: Hope it's able to get fixed quickly and easily! I hope too! I will go to a body shop this week. I know a good guy and I think I will show it to him.

That SUCKS! I keep thinking it's going to happen to me one day. Sounds like the scratches made it through the clear coat to the paint or metal. Try to have a good day.

I'm really glad for you that they offered to fix it. I too am worried that something like this may happen to me someday. But unfortunately, there isn't a lot you can do to stop it. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

I feel your pain. I had to get my 18' tires fixed cause a screw found it's way in the tire. When I got it back from the garage and installed it I noticed that the center cap was missing and after cleaning it found a nice 2 inch wide scratch that they put on my new wheel. They didn't offer me anything and wouldn't admit to messing up my rim. Basturds! They did find my center cap though.

That is sorry to hear. One dude with a Matrix had a similiar problem and they ended up having to paint the entire door. Final price was a little over $1,000.Get them to pay for everything!Should have just changed the tires out yourself to avoid these kinds of things.-Slink

Dang! I would have had a similiar situation, but I just got steel rims for my winter tires to avoid going to the shop.-Slink

I got a price for the repairs from a good body shop. It's 700 $ (CAN)!They will have to remove all the trims on the front and back passenger's doors, miror, etc. They will paint almost all of the 2 doors to have a perfect match with the Salsa color.Maybe my tire shop will think that expensive but it's the price to pay to correct their error!!! I sent a fax of the tender and I will wait until the end of the afternoon for a call. If they don't call me, I will call! UPDATE: They will pay for the repairs, it's confirmed. My body shop will call me when he will able to take my car.

Another part of the story:This weekend, when I checked for tires pressure, I found that 2 of my Goodyear RS-A were not installed correctly. These tires are supposed to have the «side facing outwards» indication visible to the exterior. But, on my Vibe, there were 2 correct and 2 wrong.... I feel that the installer didn't even know what is an asymmetric tire... This tire shop is really crap!!! First, they scratched my car and second, they didn't do the job correctly!!!

I don't think I will push it so far, but I told this story to many of my co-workers, my friends and family. And some of them told me some others bad stories... I think they have a lot of bad advertisement. I will not complain anymore because I had what I wanted too: my Vibe will be repaired.

Update: The shop I go for the repairs was so busy these weeks... they took my Vibe only this Monday. And good news, it's repaired. I went to the body shop today and all is OK. They just had some difficulties to perfect match the color but now all seems very good. I will bring back my Vibe tomorrow, it's not easy to drive a loaner other than a Vibe

I have my Vibe now. It is a very good job and I'm satisfied. I'm happy to drive her after 3 days without... My tire shop will now receive the bill (±650$).
