A wolf in sheep's clothing?

Post by CrazyJ-GT »

I know that many members have discussed removing the "Vibe" badges on the rear hatch and the doors for a cleaner look. Some GT owners just left the GT emblem only.My question....would it be ethical to just remove the GT emblems to make a GT look like a base vibe from the outside?

id say it doesnt really matter in racing sense. there are tons of "base" cars out there that use NOS and dont have it stated on the exterior. youd never know till they blow by you

Even with the GT on it, people underestimate the speed of the GT. So, with or without doesnt matter.

Just do it. On the Grand Prix boards, tons of people debadge their GTP's for smoother look, and no one complains about it looking like a GT without a supercharger. Or the GT guys take off their badges, and no one can tell by looking from the outside whether they are a GT or GTP. It's all about the looks, who gives a damn about what car is what. Just do it.

I was just wondering about this the other day - there is a frosty vibe up here in MI that has factory 17" wheels and the exhaust tip, but no "GT" badge - if I ever see that thing parked at a local store, I will find out if it has a 6-speed, but I have my suspicions...I don't think 17s are available with the base, no?

I think the GT is already a wolf in sheeps clothing. I was one of the people who took off all badges but the GT on the rear. People still look at the car as a wagon and think there is nothing under the hood. Tonight a Mitsu 3000GT was riding my a$$ down a single lane residential road. Being a father with 2 kids I usually drive very conservatively in residential areas as I wouldn't want people cruising down my road while the kids are riding their bikes. At the end of the residential area the road becomes 2 lanes. Right before the split I shifted to 4th then as soon as he was along side of me I went to 3rd and nailed it. I probably caught him by surprise but I hit lift and blew him away. To get to the point, most people don't know the Vibe or the Vibe 'GT'. Whether the emblem is there or not they don't know what's under the hood.
