what is happening to the world?

Post by coldmm803 »

on friday (9th) last week, my campus was put on lock down because someone found a message on the wall of a bathroom in a dorm suggesting that there was going to be a massacure. supposedly local PD went through all the buildings and deemed campus safe and everything went back to normal saturday for sports and such. i just recieved another email through my campus account saying that campus is on lock down again because they found another message on a wall in the library. right now, i'm really happy that i couldnt find enough friends to room with on campus this year and am a few miles off campus renting a house with 1 friend. IMO, this is rediculus, 2 times in 4 school days, i just want to have a normal senior year with around 4 weeks left of this semester and 1 more semester begining in January.

massacure = massacrerediculus = ridiculousMaybe you should spend another year there and pickup an english course. Just kidding buddy. I really must say I feel lucky to have gotten out of school before all this crap happened. The year after I left HS some kid brought a gun to school and then they installed metal detectors and had a security force. When I went there it was some 70 year old man who sat in his pickup at the entrance and would wave to us as we left to go out for lunch. In college URI had an open dorm policy where literally you coudl walk into any dorm you wanted before 10pm and just needed a student ID afterwards. No biggy, free roam was easy. End of my frosh year they locked all dorms 24/7, your ID only got you into your dorm and you had to be buzzed in and sign in each time you went into another one. I relocated back to Southern CT State U. and lived at home so I became a commuter, never had many issues with security there it was a fairly open campus, being that it was a HUGE commuter school. But again I'm glad I got out just before all this crap started happening. People are sick.

When I was still in middle school, it wasn't much to bring a rifle in for show-and-tell, as long as it was taken straight to the office and checked for ammo and kept in the office till class SAT time..

Frosh is the correct word, its just a term for a freshman. The only things kids got busted for in my school that was big time was smoking in the bathroom, the occasional and rare fight, and weed.

Welcome to the Culture of Fear brought to you by the current administration so Authorities at any level can get by with more ridiculous crap than anyone would have imagined a few decades ago in the name of Security for the People.Give us that water bottle, you ignorant Member of the Public!! It might kill us all!!! (At your school, that response was more of a "cover our asses" response than anything prudent. Essentially, everyone gets too freaked out and panicky to respond in an appropriate & intelligent way.)

msu now has both a reverse 911 and a text messaging system in case of emergencies, its kinda cool, but at the same time its sad that these measures have to be taken.
