The Wii has some fun factors for it, but a true gamer will tell you it's a glorified game cube. Graphics compared to 360 or PS3 cannot compare. I'll admit it is fun, but I'm not going to waste the $$ if it can't even support HD.
By the end of the month, this will no longer be the case. Once Halo 3 releases, people will begin to buy 360's again. Also it has a lot to do with price. If you had the choice between a 360 premium bundle vs a Nintendo Wii, and they were both the same price, which would you choose?

I can see why people buy it. When I played it I thought it was going to look better on my friends plasma, and then I did some research to find out it won't do HD.
No HD; 480p wide screen support via component cables. It looks crystal clear, but still not high def. What I like is that 3rd party game writers are including "family modes" in their games so casual game players can continue to enjoy playing games more regular players. As for the cost being less than a 360: I've spent more on hardware than a 360 premium (Wii, 4 remotes, 4 nun chucks, component cable). As for Nintendo abandoning systems: the GameCube wavebirds, memory cards and games are 100% compatible with the Wii; can MS or Sony claim 100% compatibility with their previous gen games? Who is really abandoning?

Who is really abandoning?I knew the wii would do this...but honestly what games out right now for the wii are people buying..? Almost none, its wii sports that people get addicted to and thats free with the console. I own a wii, ive had 15+ games, while most were amusing, Ive only kept maybe 6. The issue is people hype it so much. When I got mine, my best friend played wii sports and thought it was so fun he tried to buy a wii only for wii sports thats it, its those people that are getting the wii sales up so much. I can only think of 5 games on the wii since launch and by the end of this year that are seriously worth buying.... that ...isnt much. The wii CAN do 480p widescreen support but there are some games that arent in wide screen, like mario party 8...that was lame. The biggest deal I have with the wii is its SUPER lack of online support. Mario strikers online is okay but you can only play friends on your list...and its online is clunky.ps3 can play ps1 and ps2 games and its compaitibility list is much larger than x360's xbox list...so I think that the backwards thing isnt a issue.cost - well i could care less, I have a wii and a x360 and am getting a ps3. comparing cost is a waste of time as you get different features with each console. hell comparing consoles is a waste of time. As for the topic, IMO unless the wii gets better online support, and a ton of GOOD games it will lose its place next year when the ps3 starts to release its major titles.

You can check your own PS2 library with Sony http://www.us.playstation.com/...tatus .Not to mention the fact that 10 months after launching the first PS3, Sony has already changed what comes with it (80GB vs. 60GB). So they are, in effect, shafting their early adopters in under a year.Games are a matter of taste, so if someone prefers one system over an other because of what they like vs dislike, then more power to you...
I think the Wii has been selling well because it isn't geared at the hardcore gamer. By increasing their customer base, they have grown the market. Some of these customers will eventually convert to PS3 or 360, but Nintendo was very clear that's not who they are looking for.As for HD support or not, if you were really after games that were sharp and clear and available in vivid colors, you'd be outside living the real world, playing sports or paintball or otherwise. My favorite argument I read on a Prius forum was that the 360 was better because it looked more like real life - right, because there are totally Halo planets out in the galaxy and you can walk around in real life...distorted reality is fun, but not my fave...

But alls I played was GTA, Gran Turismo, and Driver. I never got into the others. With N64 I was all about the James Bond, I still play it occasionally just to run around and blast people up with ease. The 3 is nice, as is the 360, but I don't feel like pressing 15 button combinations to make something happen. I played Halo 1 and personally didn't like it. Hit 3 buttons to change a weapon or driving with backwards controls. It took me long enough to get used to the N64 controller, now I had to learn that thing as well. Heck when PS2 came out with two sets of R and L buttons on top I was lost. The Wii offered me an open experience that required little skill to work and get to know. I am bringing it to the Lake House this weeked by request.
i cant believe it took nintendo a 1yr to get the usb keyboard on the browser though...seriously, a well needed update. Still need to install i though....in other bad news. super smash bro's got delayed until Feb 2008 uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i was looking forward to that game...specially the online play.
I still have to setup my Wii for online play. Maybe tonight if I'm bored.I also gotta get a few games soon. And if I need some PS action, I'll pop up my PS2 and play some AceCombat2

mario galaxy is being sold early at some bestbuy stores! It has been giving ratings of 10/10 by most reviewers that say the game is just an amazing platformer!! a must have for every wii owner!

Quote, originally posted by kunkstyle »Again! How many more times are they going to delay it?i think its done...but they dont and never have released two "mario"/nintendo games around the same time. So they release galaxy end of 07 and smash bro's early 08...because they think they will steal money away from each other...which they WONT! i want them both and so does everyone else!
I got mario galaxy, going to get Resident evil: umbrela chronicles as well.Mario galaxy is AWESOME!! weird at first runnign around a ball aka planet but its super fun once you get the hang of it! totally worth it!
My wife and i are hoping we can get a Wii for Christmas this year...We played my sister's while we were visting a while back and loved it. They only had Wii Sports tho but it was still alot of fun. I don't know if I was trying too hard or what but I couldn't seem to beat anyone at boxing... we'd either tie or I would loose by 1 point hahaI'm really wanting to play SMG and the new RE game... as well as get RE4 since I don't have that for my PS2.
wii sports boxing is hard, you cant swing to fast and to rapidly as it wont pick it up.I have trauma center 2 (new blood) very fun and its coop!! Im stuck in chapter 2 though...need some coop help hahha but no one is here to play with me Geometry wars galaxies is fun, this is a port from the xbox live arcade with some updates. Fun but better with the wii classic controller to aim. Ghost squad - man ive been waiting for this game! I always played it in the arcade, its a direct port, but has a training and then a multiplayer (4player) mini games. The arcade can be coop, but theres only 3 missions. BUT during play your guy levels up and when you complete a mission the mission levels up. You unlock tons of guns and outfits, the guns are fun to use to redo the level to see if you can beat it with the new gun. ie. you start with a mp5 (25 round clip) then i got a 6 shooter...well it was challenging! The 3rd mission i cannot beat for the life of me!! I again need some coop help!I still like mario galaxy, got like 30 stars now, still a must have game! Im gonna go get soul calibur, but i have the RE:UC and its good, but again its coop and that makes it more fun.
well I have RE4 for the PS2. it rocked. So as soon as I get the wife a Wii, we'll try RE4 she bought for it yesterday as well as bowling. She really wants the boxing game and I want some of the older games you can down load.

I wasn't really planning on it, but ordered a Wii on Thanksgiving day. Poor me got it for $79 through Amazon as part of their Customer Vote: http://promotions.amazon.com/g...JEV6CI couldn't pass up this deal, even though Santa is already bringing a PS3 for Christmas. Not having done much reading on the Wii, what are some good games for a 7 y.o.? Any must have accessories? We won't be giving it to him until the end of January...
Quote, originally posted by AKLGT »i want a wii very badly now.... go figure! LOLI got one of only 1000 available at that price. It's already been shipped, but we won't be giving to our son until the end of January.
i hate you. actually, i just spoke with my buddy (one of them) in Best Buy. i'll be waiting for the doors to open next Sunday. hopefully he'll have mine set aside for me.
I hate not being able to search 3 character strings :/ but i couldnt find a wii thread. Did anyone else get Super Smash Bros Brawl? Its pretty fun and online playable! I was on last night playing with some friends we need to share friend codes.
This might call for some Smash Bros online. Got a copy on sunday, haven't played it much. Unlocked Capt. Falcon and Ness. Should have got Luigi, but the wife distracted me and I lost the match.
