So this weekend I went and did the full detail process as described by Whelan. BTW you are the man whelan. I actually added a step in there which was a plastic restoring portion for the headlights and rear view mirrors. Here are the pictures other than before wash. Here's the headlights and rear view mirrors before getting the plastic treatment. Oh yeah and i used the diamondite plastic restorer kit. Here's the headlights afterwards: Here's the start of the project: After Claybar treatment: Starting the 83: After 83: After 80: Final after wax is complete: we ended up taking the car to carmax and selling it to them.. and they gave us 1200 for it which is what I was hoping for it. The guy said to me well you have a few minor scratches on the paint job but we still marked it as having good paint cuz they're so minor...and with all the scratches that thing had prior to starting this I think we would have lost atleast 300 dollars had i not done the Meguiars treatment. It was a lot of work but well worth it. I did learn that i would like to do it more but... and it's a big but... I would need to get multiple buffer bonnets for the application so that i could swap them to put on the products and one to take them off, per product.

Congrats on gettin the cash buddy! Glad you took some of th advice and it worked well for you. It can totally make the difference when selling it off. Looks like you did some good work there, taped all your plastic and edges and those headlights and mirrors came out nice. Diamondite is a really good product for severe hazing thats for sure!I remember when I sold my 02 Civic EX Coupe to a local guy before buying my Trix. The day he came to drive and look at it with his mechanic buddy. Him and his friend exclaimed that even the dealers didn't have a car as clean and in as good shape body wise as mine was. Made me proud to know I made that happen, helped me get top dollar. Blue Book excellent was $9600, I got $9800. But it is a lot of work, but the results are so worth it. Again, awesome job
yeah it made me realize how much pride I should take on my work when walking around the carmax lot and seeing like 5 or 6 cars that looked like someone had done a really quick job on waxing it and hadn't taken the wax off very well just looked horrible.

That's the bug I have, whenever I go shopping for a car or with a friend for their car, I scrutinize everything. When I went to get my Trix, I was laying under the car, examining the hood, checking out the body and panels and lights and interior. Looking for cracks, scrapes, lines, tears, anything I could point at. Trust me, you will never look at a car lot the same again.
