Crysis PC demo tomorrow!!!

Post by northvibe »

Dang sweet, still havent even played UT3 beta :sCrysis demo available tomorrowPRESS RELEASE: Nvidia To Host Highly Anticipated DirectX 10 Demo Of Crysis On nZone.comPC gamers will soon be able to play the most advanced video game ever created. The Crysis demo—available tomorrow from nZone.com—includes the complete first level of the game, representing about 45 minutes of gameplay.· Crysis was developed on NVIDIA® GeForce® 8 Series graphics processors. NVIDIA programmers spent more than 5,000 engineering hours helping Crytek add the latest graphics technology to the game.· Crysis features Extreme High Definition (XHD) support with up to 2560x1600 resolution—roughly twice the resolution of next-generation video-game consoles.· The demo will be available Saturday, October 27th from nZone.com. Link: http://uk.nzone.com/object/nzo....html. The final version of the game is scheduled for release in North America and Europe on November 16th, 2007.Quote by Roy Taylor, vice president of content for NVIDIA:“Crysis is without a doubt the world’s most advanced game and the most important game to come out since Half Life. We applaud our friends at Crytek and EA for their spectacular achievement. There’s never been a game that looked this good and delivered such an immersive gaming experience. The only question is: Are you ready?”Quote by Cevat Yerli, Crytek CEO:“Originally we set two extreme and mutually exclusive goals: 1) pushing the boundaries of interactivity and non-linearity, and 2) achieving a realistic experience where you forget you’re playing a game. With the deep technical expertise of NVIDIA’s world-class support team, we achieved these two seemingly impossible goals, defining the heart of Crysis. We developed Crysis on NVIDIA graphics processors and we recommend GeForce 8800 graphics cards for the best experience.”

haha, i've been playing this for the past month(was lucky enough to get my hands on a beta version)...This is a very demanding game! My machine can barely handle it at medium specs and i have a high end machine! Not only are the graphics demanding but I would also recommend getting as decent sound card because, yes even the sound makes your computer work hard.

Well, I downloaded it and installed it. I was going full resolution, medium detail and it was running fine. I wasn't able to run ANY anti-aliasing. Without the AA, the game just looked horrible. There are so many trees, bushes, etc. The more of those, the more aliasing you get, so it just looked like crap. The suit powers are pretty cool, and combat was all right. It took forever to kill somebody which was odd. AI wasn't that great. It basically seemed exactly like Far Cry except for the storyline and suit powers. Seems like you'll only enjoy this game if you're running Core 2 Duo Extreme, 8800 SLI setup, and 4+ GB of memory. Without that it'll just look like crap.I got the Orange Box. A bit disappointing. Episode 2 was a joke. TF2 is ok, maybe I'll get into it some more but it doesn't feel like Classic did. I guess I'm just looking forward to COD4, but somebody said the entire game takes like 5 hours......if so, then I won't get it. I expect a good 15-20 hours of gameplay to be worth it.So, anybody else have thoughts on Crysis?

i just downloaded it and played it for a lil, it seems ok, nothing spectacular but maybe thats cause i dont have an 8800. like Petrucci said, AA is needed and it does take too long to kill people. i need to try again with higher resolution and try upping the AA to 4how do i pic up more ammo?

Go over the dead bodies and look at their weapon and press 'f.' That'll pick up their ammo, or their gun if you don't have it. I couldn't even run AA at 2x. I couldn't even get through the menu with it at that setting. I'm running an Ati X1900GT 256MB. You'll definetely need a 8800 to run at 2x, maybe a SLI setup to do 4x.

Petrucci, thanks for the tip.my card is a 7900gs 256mb, the first time i set AA to 2x it didnt hold but i didnt know that at first, during the intro it jumped out of full screen so i went in the options and set it to full screen and 2x AA, then started playing the the graphics were horrid and went back to options to find it was out of 2xAA so i reset it to 2x and it stayed that time. without the AA set everything was transparent, i couldnt see the rocks and trees that i was walking into, it sucked.whats the rest of you pc?i'm running an am2 x2 4200 (2.2ghz), asus board and 2gb of corsair ddr2 800i'd love to run sli but cant afford that till sometime after i graduate but then need to decied what i'd rather more, mod my pc or the vibe

And then my videocard. I went to the options while playing the game and set it to 2x but I couldn't even move the mouse and everything, it was running that slow. Maybe it's better to set that before starting the game. Since I was in the game maybe it was re-rendering the entire map. It still seems like a game that will be just horrid unless you can run it smoothly at full res. I'm fine with Medium quality, but I want to run at a native resolution with some AA. 5 million aliased leaves makes for a horrid sight.

It won't work on your Laptop unless it has a dedicated graphics card. It's a damn hog, that's for sure. Unless you're higher than the recommended specs, it's not worth it.

What did you have the graphics at? Running AA made it ungodly slow and without AA the graphics look absolutely horrendous.

Or you could get rid of the Dell-Hell and build your own desktop. Laptops are pointless for games, I don't care how modded they are. Who wants to carry around a 20lb laptop. Not I.

WOW! I finally got to play the damn demo and it was AMAZING! It was running pretty good at medium specs( I dont think I had AA on though). My rig consists of a AMD 64 X2 dual core 4800+, 2GB of ram, and an overclocked GeForce 7950GT card. Im getting the 8800GT next week when i get paid for some graphic design work, so hopefully that will help.

I'm going to try it again and lower shadowing and such and see if I can run some AA, because without it the game isn't worth buying.

Re-played it again tonight. This time I put the quality at High and only put the Shadowing and Shaders at Medium. It looked A LOT better that way, even with no AA. I still think it takes too many shots to kill someone. I can have the crosshair on their head and let out a couple bursts and nothing.
