a few days ago i was wiping down the interior of my vib and i noticed a dust buildup on my guage lens, so i washed them down with soap and water and dried them with a soft cloth....even with soft cloth used to wipe and dry (gently) IT SCRATCHED !!!! i now have scratch marks over the lower portion of my tach guage lens...the others are okay. Yes the cloth was clean, both are the type used to clean my plastic eyeglasses so i know thats not it......so my question is this: Is there a solution that can be used to clean plastic lenses that will not scratch the surface and is there solutions that can be used to lessen the scratches that are already there that will not distort the view ????
I just use my Invisble Glass glass cleaner to clean my lens. There aren't any deep scratches, but it certainly isn't a scratchless surface either. I can't see them unless i really look hard, so that's ok by me.

well, the last time i tried to get it off, i shattered it. lol.you have to remove the entire dashboard to get it out in one piece. you can pull on the face with the four holes in it and get access to the entire lens, but it would probably be easier if you took it out as a whole. good luck dude.

Yes-HELP-- I took my Vibe to a car wash where they wipe the interior and they rubbed my lens with a harsh towel and scratch it on the tach---Just P***ed me off -so if there is any polish or scratch remover that I can lightly apply to remove the worst scratches --I would really like to know.I can pop off the bezel to expose the entire lens and try to make it look better than it does now. As a last resort --I will replace the lens, because I am a perfectionist. James

I recently discussed in a thread how you CAN'T replace just the lens, you have to pay over $500 for a whole new cluster.Begin reading here, and read the rest of the thread...it'll give ya the whole lowdown.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... 8152#28152

Next time you want to clean the plastic lens, take the gauge cluster out. Just put your steering wheel all the way down, grab the outter cluster on the left and right and pull. It merely pops in and pops out. You then have full range to clean the lens without having problems. When inserting it back in, just make sure the trip odometer thingy is in the right place -Slink

quote:I have a product here, it is called Blue Magic Plastic and Plexiglass scratch remover. I could not find a link. I bought mine at Autozone. so try AutoZone.com for it, they might have it. I may have to use this stuff, it seems that my lens are getting scratched up!
‘03 Vibe with 317k and still going.............................
The best stuff to use is sold at your local glass shop. It is a condensed for of glass cleaner/lube for cutting glass. It also does wonders to take stickers off and bug crusties. It may be expensive but much cheaper than a new cluster. You should not pay more than $8.00 a gallon. For all of the people near detroit Henderson Glass sells it and they have over 34 locations. Always use a clean disposable towel. Shame on you for taking the vibe to the car wash. LOL just kidding sometimes in the winter there is just no other way. I would put some plastic of tape a piece of paper that says NO WASHY GAUGES!!!! The name of the company the produces this product is called BURCO. Not sure if they sell it at autozone or places like that. The solution the BURCO creates lifts the dirt particles and into the towel.
Just here to lend a hand to people who have questions about their Vibe.
