Hey guys and gals. I was curious as to what you people would think or have to say about the idea of a 3 door Vibe/Matrix (2 door w/ rear hatch). While there's only the 5 door available I've been trying to imagine what a 3 door might look and perform like. Let me hear your insights to this. Thanks a bunch!
i think a 3 door would be nice....not everyone wants a 4 door...if done correctly could be like ponitac version of civic si/vw gti or something..maybe name it Tempest
Wonder what the sales ratio is in other makes that offer both a 4 and a 2 dr. I suspect that the 2-dr is not more than 10%. MOST of us like 4 drs, especially us "older" folks who have trouble getting in and out of the back seat of a 2 dr. Also, seems that insurance companies have higher rates for 2-dr's than 4-dr's.

The Pontiac Sunfire (Chevy Cavalier twin) is no longer being built as a 4-door because approx 75% of all Sunfires sold were 2-doors. Pontiac killed the 4-door Sunfire because it felt the Vibe would take it's place for those people looking for a 4-door Sunfire.http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp ... number=1So one could think that if 4-door Sunfire customers like the 4-door Vibe, 2-door Sunfire customers would probably like a 2-door Vibe. I, for one, am one of those who would like a 2-door Vibe.PONTIAC, ARE YOU LISTENING?!?My idea:My idea of a Vibe El Camino:
I really like your concept Nova. That's pretty close to what I had imagined when I thought of this topic. A 2 door Vibe might spur some very strong competition within it's market. As far as I know, the majority of similar cars in the same market (Focus,Golf, Civic) are sold as 2 doors. With that said, the 4 door is quite versitile, being sporty and functional in the same breath, yet I would much like to see a Vibe that focuses more on the sportiness. Perhaps a 2 door Vibe GT, all time AWD, with the supercharged mounted on it would be a likely configuration. It would be quite the sleeper ride wouldnt it? (GM has done this sort of thing before with the Typhoon back in '92/'93) I did send an email to Pontiac asking if there were any plans for such, and as of yet they have not replied.P.S. I'd love to see a 2 door on the WRC circuit.
