paint chips-bra?

I own a 2007 Vibe with 4000 miles on it. I drive 60 miles evey day. I have some paint chips on the motor hood that are unbelievable. I do not care for the look of hood coverings (bras) but I also do not want to repaint the damn hood every few years either. Is a bra worth the money? I have heard they can collect and hold water and can do damage as well. Can someone steer me in the right direction with regards to bra manufacturers?

search out a "Clear-Bra" I believe its a 3-M product that adheres to the hood and is virtually invisible.There are a few members her that have them. I'm sure they will chime in.

You might also look at a "rock deflector". My 96 Prizm was still in great shape when I passed it on to my kids, except for the front of the hood which had rusted through from the rock chips. So when I bought the Vibe, I put on one of the deflectors asap since I'm currently driving about 100 highway miles per day. So far the hood doesn't have any chips (the windshield is another matter ).I looked at the clear bras, but the local installer wanted $700, which was out of my price range.Bob

It does scuff the paint in a few spots on the grill (but that's plastic and won't rust through like the hood). It only takes a couple of minutes to install.

Where did you buy the rock deflector? What do you mean it scuffs some paint spots on the grill? Does this happen during installtion?

I personally use touch up paint a lot. To me, it ruins the look of a car when you put a deflector or a bra on. I understand if you have a SHOW car, but to put one on the Vibe is kind of weird. What are you protecting the paint for? Your not going to take it to shows, and who cares how nice the paint is under a bra when you never see it?

Does this happen during installtion?I bought the deflector from Weathertech. The scuff spots are small and are on the top of the grill (front facia ?) where it wraps under the hood. The deflector attaches to the underside of the hood when it is installed. The gap between the hood and the grill is pretty tight, so over time a couple of spots have chafed. Sorry, I never ment to offend anyone who has chosen to protect thier paint. If you do touch up the paint often, you can still avoid rust.
