it shouldnt be from snow and salt....salt doesnt do that much rust in that short of a time..i've seen cars..such as my sunfire..7 yr car..not a spec of rust on it..unless they just grabbed a bag of salt and dumped it on the engine and let it sit their for awhile
It's an '03 and could have been bought in the fall of '02 which makes 4 winters. If the owner lived near the ocean the poor car would have year round salt exposure. My '04 Vibe was always salty when I checked under the hood during the winter. The '06 does not seem as bad. Maybe the front end design change improved the road spray intake.

The last time I had seen a car like that would have been two or three years ago after a car was pulled out of a lake. I went to CARFAX and they said that there was seven items on the report that could lead to problems. I just did not want to spend the money on the full report.

ok i got the info from the seller... this is just too funny...."The electrical problem was a mis-print on my part. Carfax is clean on this car, No flood damage. Pics were taken prior to any recon, so it looks a bit rough. Thanks, Bob"YEEEEAAA RIIIIGHTTT!I don't know about the rest of the vibes but I can attest to a few other cars that I have owned here on the east coast that have seen plenty of beach days, massive snow storms and TONS of rocksalt. Never have I seen rust like that. In this day in age a clean carfax dosen't mean squat anything is "fudgeable"I currently live down wind from a cement factory... so I see a lot of acid rain and even that hasn't caused any rust.

There was a guy stranded inside a black Vibe GT and refused to get out, dispite being partially submerged in water. The rescue team tempted him with cigarettes to get him out.
