The 411 about my cracked fog lamp

Soooooo. After going by the dealership today, I discovered that the price for a what i think to be is a GM fog lamp, is $110US. Not that bad right? Ok heres the clincher! The elaborate work involved to replace the darn thing adds an estimated (the service clerks, not mine) $280US !!! wow! Thats way more than I ever thought. Any ideas on what to else to do? Find another way to install it? What about just the price for the lamp? Too much? Too little? Just right?

junkyard would be the best bet, but 110usd sounds about right i guess, i can get a price from my work tomorrow(gm dealer) and see how much they would cost, although it's cdn, but it'll be the same price since the dollar is equal now, if not the best bet is just to go aftermarket, like PIAA

You're best to install it yourself. save yourself some money.If you do a search I'm sure there's a "how to" and they are usually pretty good walk thru's.good luck!

that sucks. i think the price is probably about right, i broke the fog on my dodge dakota when i had it and it was 90 for a new one, i dont remember the estimate to install it but i did the install myself and it took less than an hr layin on my back unable to see what i was doin and finding the right socket wrench. for the truck install was remove 3 screws, put in new light, plug in light and put 3 screws back in. i say do the install yourself cause it shouldnt be hard and like Kamikaze said there should be a how to or somethin around on here

buy it and then remove the two bolts at the base of your inner wheel liner at the bumper. pop back the liner and you can see right up in there. remove the fog lamp and install the new one. probably a lot easier with a hoist. I bet the book time was 1.5 hours. realistic time though... maybe an hour at the most if you don't know what your doing.

Don't expect vehicle prices to slide any, even though the looney is on par with the dollar. There are additional costs that get tacked onto goods and services sent to Canada and accounts for some of the difference in costs. Although, it may work out to be the same, I wouldn't bet on it.

Taking the front bumper off is your best bet and easyest way to work on the fog lights. It will take you all of about 5mins to get the entire front clip of the car off.
